  1. Dusty Groove indicates that there will be 4 cd box set release of Braxton's "Lorraine" music apparently drawn from live concerts, e.g., Vilnius, Antwerp, Rome. On the "Angelica" label from Italy.Up for preorder. release Date of April 12th.

  2. Finally reading Mark Stryker's "Jazz from Detroit".  He mentions there is a 25 minute video of Sheila Jordan from 1971. Cool. Found it on YouTube and for those who have not seen it:

Not a bad band. Jan Garbarek, Bobo Stenson, Arild Andersen and Jon Christensen.

  3. According to David Haney on Facebook and Wikipedia Bob Rusch of Cadence Magazine had died. Wikipedia indicates on January 14, 2024.

Yes, Bob Rusch was not an artist but it felt strange to put this under any other section.

October 14-15th is a weekend for tough choices for concerts within a 100 miles of Albany, NY.

On Saturday the 14th, George Cables, Dave Schnitter and Steve Davis appear at The Clark Museum in Williamstown, MA. And that same evening the Mat Maneri ASH Quartet (with Lucian Ban, Brandon Lopez and Randy Peterson) appears at the Arts Society of Kingston, NY.

On Sunday the 15th, the same Mat Maneri quartet appear in Springfield, MA in a jazz shares.org event.  Then there is the Daniel Carter-Demian Richardson event in West Stockbridge, MA.  And lets not forget the celebration of "The Musical Spirit of Corona and Creative Music Studio" at The Falcon in Marlboro, NY that includes Billy Martin, Steve Bernstein, Kirk Knuffke, Cyro Baptista and Steve Gorn.

  6. re: Jazzcorner's post of august 29th-I believe the Royal Palms Inn in which those recordings were made is in Scottsdale Arizona, not Las Vegas, NV. Has it happens Bob Lorenz, the owner of Woofy, evidently lived in Phoenix, AZ, which is a short distance from the Royal Palms Inn.  He filmed those Royal Palm concerts, sold dvds and some are on YouTube.
