  1. Yeah, or Dan Carlin Might want to check his site. He and I disagree all the time. Matter of fact, we have already disagreed about something today. But hey, at least you've partially done your homework. Nice!! Yeah, I was just foolin' with you man, I like Dan a lot. I was just wondering could there be two Scott Dolans? Peace Partner right back at ya Do you post there?

  3. Agreed. If everyone agreed with you what the hell would you learn? Might as well be a Hannity fan.
  4. Point proven. Thanks, Scott! You are fun to joust with, I'll give you that!
  5. Not buying into junk science to validate my own opinions doesn't exactly preclude me from being level-headed and logical. Buying, overnight, into a number 6 times greater than the one you had believed in the day before doesn't seem very logical, IMO. Possibly bordering on hysteria.
  6. Exactly. Kind of a "shoot me to put me out of your misery" kind of thing.
  7. He does have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this music. And it's a treat when he talks about it. But I don't get the whole politics thing. Did he ever really talk about politics here? He never did on JC. Just posted NYT op-ed after NYT op-ed. He started so many different "Bush is a moron" threads over there that even the libs were begging him to settle down.
  8. I take it you don't have much appreciation for the FreeJazz movement? It's difficult to grasp, indeed. And I don't mean that in a condescending way. It's like Frank Zappa said, "either you get it, or you don't". I didn't at first, Al. But when I got Coltrane's VV boxset, and popped in that first disc, it was some kind of revelation. The first track is India. As I was listening to it all I could think was "this is the most bizarre horseshit I've ever heard". But when it was over I just HAD to go back and listen to it again! After that, I was hooked. Hard to explain. Have you heard anything from that box?
  9. A buncha trolls. Guy No WONDER I identify with those guys so much!!
  10. Well thank you, brother. Some of my rep is well deserved, I'll be the first to own up to that. When I first started posting at JC in '02, I was indeed a firebreathing rightwing loon. September 11th really shook me up and I fell into Hannity/Limbaugh/Fox News trap. But I've recovered quite nicely, I believe. And I dove head first into politics as a result. And that is a good thing. It's helped me to better understand that America is an ideologically based society which means we all basically want the same ends. It's just the means that seperate us. Well, I'm a rather lukewarm fan of his Birdness, but do appreciate his contributions. So maybe I'll end up being part of said group. So you're also familiar with the goings on at JC? What is your handle there? But I agree with you. I used to dig threads about me, but now they make me cringe. I don't seek the attention, it just seems to happen. Big Al, this is sound advice. Though the wealth of false starts, breakdowns, and alternate takes can sometimes be tedious, this is an excellent document of the master. I got this one when I still lived in Florida many years ago, and I still consider it one of the "must have" boxes in my collection. Where do you stand on folks like Eric Dolphy and Ornette?
  11. Ugh.................. I knew I should have ignored your suggestion. I fell asleep twice while composing that post!
  12. Fine, I just posted in the WAYLT thread. Ugh..... Now can I talk about the Iraq Study Group report?
  13. I see. Well, talking about music these days normally bores me to tears to be perfectly honest. But I'll scan to see if I can find a thread that peaks my interest.
  14. Thank you, brother. I had a reputation here well before I started posting here on a regular basis. Reputations are tricky.
  15. I don't believe I ever have here, no. Absolutely! Hell, I named my son after two Jazz musicians. But, as I explained to you in another thread, I feel I have said all I have to say about Jazz. I prefer to listen to it rather than talk about it these days. The main reason being that nothing new has really got me excited over the last few years (aside from certain albums such as Touchin' On Trane, The Peach Orchard, Painters Spring...), so I find myself drifting back towards the older masters. And what more can really be said about Trane, Dolphy, Miles, Webster, Ellington, etc..? That there are, Mr. juck. And since you like percentages so much, why not break down how many people here I argue with as opposed to how many people I simply have a thorough conversation with. That would be an interesting stat. Also, as it sometimes tends to be at JC, people sometimes prefer to talk about me rather than talk to me. You would be a good example of this seeing that you already have a well formed opinion of me and like to air it, but I'm not sure how you were able to form it since you and I have rarely conversed with each other. Why not try talking to me rather than about me? That's fair to both of us, isn't it? And if you find you still don't like me, then so be it.
  16. Eh, it's not nearly as bad as some make it sound, Al.
  17. And here I thought they had cleared these guys month or so back? This story just keeps getting more and more bizarre. Lots of really weird questions concerning this one. Not the least of which being how the hell did TWO warning systems fail?
  18. And why did I start calling him that, BM? Let me answer that for you. Because he started calling me a troll. And as I told Mr. E, if you don't want to play rough, don't thow the first punch. And for gods sake, don't start whining because I hit you back acting as though you did nothing to warrant the return fire. Talk about a red herring. And if he left this place simply because I started posting here, that's rather bizarre. Don't you think?
  19. I don't presume to speak for Chris, but I believe there is a connection between the appearance on this board of Scott Dolan and Chris' disappearance. I don't know what their common history is, but Chris does not respect Dolan's political opinions, and Dolan in turn acts obnoxiously and resorts to silly name-calling (see above). What? Because I refer to him as al-Bertson? Hell, he never seemed to have a problem with Johnny E blowing apart at the seems, now did he? Neither do you, by the way. So why not bark up another tree? I didn't do jack shit to him, and he intentionally started a thread to see if he could get me fired up which Jim later deleted. Do some reasearch before relaying the story, my friend.
  20. I subscribe to the NYT. I can cut and paste any op-ed piece from there if you'd like me to in al-Bertson's stead.
  21. I thought Requiem For A Dream was brilliant. But it's definitely not a movie you'll want to watch more than once. Very disturbing stuff.
  22. Terrible ending to this story. I feel really bad for the cat and his family. On NBC News the other night the reporter from the area mentioned that they had found bear tracks very close to his footprints in certain areas. Aren't bear in hibernation at this time of the year?
  23. I've been pretty interested in it since I first saw the trailer several months ago. Looks very intriguing. I just hope it doesn't end up being some sloppy turd like What Dreams May Come was.
