Like Dan I wouldn't RELY on the car's safety/warning features, but they can be very helpful.
I use mine when I'm changing radio stations or (especially) cds.

Oh yeah! I went on a late-70s Rush binge myself recently
Is this because of the recently published Geddy Lee autobiography? It sounds really interesting to me and I'm not even a Rush fan.

My wife and I were at the part of Iceland 6 years ago. At the time there was just steam coming up from the ground/ice. Didn't seem dangerous. Shows what I know.

Thanks. I just ordered it. I bought a bunch of the Commodore cds at reduced prices when I had an office on the Universal lot but unfortunately didn't buy this one. (Though I'm not sure this was part of that series. ) Also I think I did find I Got Rhythm on Spotify-- I'm not sure because Spotify gives so little information but it is Byas and Slam and there's applause at the end.

I'm referring to jusst the Town Hall /concert. (One cut-- Slam Stewart and Byas playing Indiana is on the Commodore cd set that Universal issued a couple of decades ago.)

It came out in the gimambo Commodore Set from Mosaic.
Is it available in any digital form (including cd)?

I will risk the ire of the hip and add that I like Kieth Jarrett's The Koln Concert.

I finally took the plunge and bought the first new car for my use in my lifetime. The lack of a CD player is a pain and I wonder if anyone has a recommendation of a good CD player with USB to connect to the vehicle.
I've bought one on Amazon that works with both fm radio and/or Bluetooth. Pain in the ass but better than nothing and sound is fine.

I worked with her on a film many years ago and she was no more difficult than almost any of us are.

Gotta admit that I started with disc 4-- the Timme recordings. They're great. I'm presuming he used 33 1/3 recording discs. Was the big breakthrough that Columbia made later the use of a micro-groove? Obviously 33 1/3 had been used earlier (e.g the Ellington "stereo" recordings).

Miraculously my set arrived without VAT or import duties.
Congrats!

Got mine today here on the left coast. No notification. Next time I think I'll use USPS. Actually find them better than UPS. (We have a very nice mail woman.)

Do you need a quad player or can you do it via surround sound on your blu ray player?

Mosaic contents + 2 additional tracks. 1/5 the price.
What are the two additional tracks and are they available separately? (I know that may be answered somewhere in this thread but-- as is often the case-- I'm getting confused.)

I try to listen to every new cd I buy at least twice before shelving it. Nowadays I often listen to a cd I've just bought via streaming services while I work out (stationary bike) at the Y while listening through over the ear head phones which I've learned to love.

Not ideal, but full album is available on youtube.
Thanks! (I never think of looking there.)

I see the Lp for sale on Discogs but I no longer have a turntable. According to "And Did Those Feet.." , which makes it sound very interesting, no cd of "In the Public Interest" was ever released. Does anyone know of a downloadable or streaming version? (I guess I could buy an Lp and try to get it digitized. I used to be able to do that myself back when I still had access to a turntable.)

Any initial impressions that you'd care to share about the music or book, @sidewinder?
I'm very tempted to order it.
This is re: Did These Feet: I like most of the music on the cds but the sound seems "thin" to me (sort of low-fi) maybe because it was all recorded for radio several decades ago. The book is very informative though I didn't really need to know the politics of each musician and didn't Whitney Balliett not Martin Williams coin the term "the sound of surprise"?

Duke Ellington's "Old Man Blues" from August 26, 1930.
Featured in the film "Check and Double Check". A great tune.

But on the other hand I was excited to read this:
The Savoy and National sessions which are owned by the Concord Music Group
Hasn't it been said before "that's owned by Concord now and they won't deal with Mosaic"? If that is changing ...
I've heard from a reliable source that a Vanguard package is in the works.

IS that a deadline to sign up or to submit a song?

First Monk recording of Round Midnight?
in Discography
Posted
Now that we have the Mosaic Don Byas with more Timme material does anyone know what else exists and is in the Danish University collection? Are there more Monk tracks and could the Byas/Monk Mosaic material be from the same session as Midnight? The latter is listed as November 11, 1944. and the material on the Byas collection as from "Autumn 1944".
