  1. Now that we have the Mosaic Don Byas with more Timme material does anyone know what else exists and is in the Danish University collection? Are there more Monk tracks and could the Byas/Monk Mosaic material be from the same session as Midnight? The latter is listed as November 11, 1944. and the material on the Byas collection as from "Autumn 1944".

  2. Thanks.  I just ordered it.  I bought a bunch of the Commodore cds at reduced prices when I had an office on the Universal lot but unfortunately didn't buy this one.  (Though  I'm not sure  this  was part of that series. ) Also I think I did find I Got Rhythm on Spotify--  I'm not sure because Spotify gives so little information but it is Byas and Slam and there's applause at the end.

I finally took the plunge and bought the first new car for my use in my lifetime. The lack of a CD player is a pain and I wonder if anyone has a recommendation of a good CD player with USB to connect to the vehicle.

I've bought one on Amazon that works with both fm radio and/or  Bluetooth. Pain in the ass but better than nothing and sound is fine.

  4. I see the Lp for sale on Discogs but I no longer have a turntable.  According to "And Did Those Feet.." , which makes it sound very interesting, no cd of  "In the Public Interest" was ever released.  Does anyone know of a downloadable or streaming version?  (I guess I could buy an Lp and try to get it digitized.  I used to be able to do that myself back when I still had access to a turntable.)

Any initial impressions that you'd care to share about the music or book, @sidewinder?

I'm very tempted to order it.  ;)

This is re: Did These Feet:  I like most of the music on the cds but the sound seems "thin" to me (sort of low-fi) maybe because it was all recorded for radio several decades ago.  The book is very informative though I didn't really need to know the politics of each musician and didn't Whitney Balliett not Martin Williams coin the term "the sound of surprise"?
