  11. I hung out with Redd a few times back in the 70's. He visited a friend up the block in Long Beach, CA. After the Getz thread I will not go into details.
  12. I look at this project from a music format perspective/preference. Formats have changed over the years. Why? Sony/Phillips brought us CD. Why? The Tape Project is a classic mom and pop operation. I've known of Dan and Bottlehead.com for years. I have his speakers and his kits have a large following. It's just another format. And, it just so happens it may be the best sounding format. Listening to music at home should be a very, very pleasurable experience. He is bringing us another freedom of choice. Thank god these guys are thinking out of the box. I include the guys doing the Blue Note 45rpm LP's. It's just a format. Why are these alternative formats expensive? Figure it out. These are groups of 1 to 5 people creating/keeping alive formats that have been around for 75 years.
  13. Blue Mitchell: Down With It Mobley: A Slice Of The Top
  14. My son just downloaded about 2000 LP's to his new iPod. CD's, SACD's are just as irrelivent as vinyl these days, maybe more so. Fantasy(or whoever they are now) is happy to lease its master tapes to THE TAPE PROJECT....we are talking reel to reel at $200 a pop. Rollins: SAX COLLOSUS master tape is on Bainbridge Island, WA as I type. I say more power to them.
  15. LINK A little over the top for me, but very, very interesting. I can still remember the time(late 60's)when I first heard a great reel to reel system. I was 9 or 10. I just stood there transfixed. I said, "WTF is that?". My friend's big brother(a pro drag racer and audiophile) just nodded and smiled. I came over to listen rather than check out his cars from then on. Crap...I put in the wrong forum and can't delete or move.

  20. Wow, thanks Claude. Bale on RTI people. These guys are creeps.
  21. Thank you...spot on!!! Big problem at RTI that was pushed off on the a false culprit...Classic!
  22. Well, yes, they are that bad. As for the vinyl, my limited experience with RTI has been exceptional. I dunno - maybe a bad batch? I visited the place once, took the tour, and saw first hand the pressing process and QA. Also saw huge vats of the top quality vinyl they usually use - which leads me to think these defects are an aberation. Still, I agree that spending $30 or more for shitty vinyl is a bad thing. Oh, btw, "cunt" is generally considered a pretty offensive word. Yes, bad word...but...post, threads deleted. At this point I could give a shit. I beleive he knew!!!! Not really complicated....we were lied to! I've been buying from Hoffman and RTI since day ONE!!! And the MF's lied to me!!!!
