  1. the other arrival from FSR has turned out to be equally as good Herberer/Fonda/Hertenstein-----Remedy Vol. 2------(FSR 12/2023) A quite playful trio set - trumpet/bass/drums. I really like this .
  2. I'm holding my breath. I wasn't charged duty either but I've known to receive these charges later. It's only ever happened when Mosaics have arrived by courier services. I noted that the full value of the set was declared on mine unlike all previous Mosaic shipments over the past thirty years.... The music is superb and I'm only on Disc One. A real triumph of set by Mosaic.
  3. Recently I had an attempt at an LP clear out. This was on the pile for possible onward movement.Once I listened to it I realised that it was a keeper. Better sound compared to the Bird in Paris set , but that too was a keeper.
  4. Nicely done issue of this music. Grant's live dates add something. The two sets offered up by Resonance a few years ago are very good too.
  5. A friend returned from a trip to Tokyo with a couple of things for me. One was this.. Yosuke Yamashita------Montreux Afterglow----(Frasco) 1976 date
  6. Very sad news. He championed the music and put it out there. Thanks and RIP
  7. Ernst Raijseger & Alan "Gunga" Purves---------Cellotape & Scotchtape-------(Data) 1981 Beautiful duet. I was lucky enough to catch Gunga guest recently with Playtime quartet. He was born here in Edinburgh but seems to have spent most of his career in Amsterdam. His style is very reminiscent of Han Bennink.
  8. I couldn't immediately lay my hands on my copy of I:ToSG but looking at Cinedelic's reissue of Togashi's "Speed and Space" it states that it's licensed from Teichiku Co. Ltd. Label reproduces original (?) Union label and has Japanese OBI ! This reissue also has great sound and on the face of it appears legit.
  9. Interesting I haven't heard Tristano in Masayuki's sound ...only the that of an angle grinder. Kidding aside his music on "Tread on sure Ground" is very fine. Cinedelic Italy have reissued this on vinyl (Juno, Soundohm etc). Pressing is excellent IMO and way way better than I was expecting. Cool JoJo sounds positively mainstream from the clips I've heard by comparison.
  10. Corto.alto-------Bad with names ---------(New soil) A very cohesive set of ambitious music. Jazz definitely, some hip hop , plenty of uncategorisable music. Sounds new
  11. I'm still waiting on New Soil. I'll probably pick up two or three from this list.. Action, action / Medina/ Dialogue
  12. A couple of CDs arrived today from Fundacja . Took a wee while to get here but it’s always worth the wait. first up a quarte recording with two from this parish Karl Evangelista ——What else is there ——-( FSR 11/2023) featuring Alexander Hawkins .
  13. Sylvie Courvoisier----Chimera------(Intakt) Arrived a a few days. I've been listening to disc one on repeat. It offers a very different sound to other releases I've heard by the leader. Beautifully spacious recording with a floating cerebral feel but much more visceral than a typical ECM session. Unusual line up with two trumpets , piano, vibes , guitar, bass, drums. Interesting stuff.
  14. I was twenty and in my second year of medical school. I'd starting paying attention to JRR with the late Peter Clayton on BBC radio three. He played an Adderley track "Barefoot Sunday blues" which blew me away. This CD was the only Adderley I could find and was my very first modern jazz purchase. This lead to Somethin' Else and the rest is history.
  15. Definitely getting this. I had some bias to Byas with a mix on 78/ LP
  16. Extra tracks are from Brownie with strings album IIRC. Sound wasn’t as good as other emArcy reissues
  17. I’ll need to check that out. I rate Kris Davis highly but haven’t heard much from her in the past few years
  18. Well Beyond Dragons arrived yesterday with the Stones album! Unusual combination. Any rate Niesceier’s Intakt release has real urgency. It’s a trio with the incredible Tomeka Reid and Savannah Harris ( new name to me I think) . I think all the Niescier I’ve heard has been on Intakt but once again she leaves a substantial positive impression. I’ll definitely keep her name on my must listen list. Recommended
  19. Allen Kwela-----Black Beauty-----(Matsuli) Matsuli produce some really lovely reissues of South African music. Everything is done to the highest standards. This set has gentle SA township vibe.
  20. Next ...Miyazawa Akira-----Bull trout------(Victor/HMV) -another very fine piece of Japanese free(ish) jazz. Recent reissue.
  21. More Japanese jazz this morning its.. Masahiko Togashi-----We Now Create---(Victor Jpn) -recent reissue
