  1. any comment on this one? same series other years? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Live-Reco...im_m_h__title_1 JB
  2. That's good news, all these are on my Blue Note wishlist (I didn'g get them because of the CD until now). they are among the 10 cds i keep in my office (more would look decadent i thought), just switched from Think! to Heavy Soul, they're a great bunch! Makes me wonder which are the other 7? JB
  3. The report I heard said the mitigating circumstances were high blood pressure and emphysema. I'm thinking that maybe a stimulant that you inhale may not have been the best choice for Ike's recreational drug. high blood pressure and cocaine don't mix. JB
  4. Jimmy Smith – Live At The Baby Grand V. 1 Jimmy Smith – Live At The Baby Grand V. 2 why not make this a doubleCD set? JB
  5. so what are the reservations about this set? JB sorry, I hadn't read the rest of the threat. but how is this really the best sound quality till now? JB John, everyone has a different idea of what "the best sound quality" is. I will say that these sound very very good. I put them up there with the K2 Digital Impulse cds from Japan as my favorite sounding versions. There are many reasons why these may sound so good. Better source tapes. . . more careful engineering of the remastering process. . . improved mastering equipment. . . .Whatever the reasons, it seems to me that great care was taken to get a great sounding result and it has paid off. thanks jazzbo! what about comparing the sound quality to the expanded versions of "Ballads" and "AFRICA/BRASS" ?? JB
  6. Seems like madness! Ahh, a thousand here, a thousand there...just pocket change! I'm not surprised that people start d/l illegally (with those prices) JB

  9. The set includes a 119-page, hardbound booklet, with discographies of the sessions; an essay about the composers by Benny Green; a history of the songbooks by John McDonough; a handful of color or b&w photos; and also an alphabetized index of all the songs included in the box. I bought mine used a few years after it was issued, and I've seen a number of used copies in the years since. So, keep your eyes open- you can save yourself a whole lot of $ by getting a used set. I haven't owned any of the more recent individual CD issues, so I can't offer any help regarding the sound quality differences. I see this box in stores less than 90 euros here in the Netherlands now... but it's a version without the hardbound booklet!! so beware! JB
  10. Do you mean on the actual cd itself? I have a RVG edition and it doesn't have A.T.;s Delight anywhere on the disc or the inserts. Yes, right at the top. Where "Flight to Jordan" should be, it says "A.T.'s Delight." I can't get a good enough close-up with my camera to be able to show y'all right now. I'll try again later. Mine Says "Flight to Jordan" on the CD, so no misprint. But I have the European version. JB
  11. [ Looks like $9.58 is the new price for RVG pre-orders.
  12. these haven't hit the store yet here in Amsterdam... RvG's are 6,99 euro's, btw, here in my favorite store, "Concerto" JB
  13. hmmm.. this can make me very uncomfortable... how to choose... not my strongest point...
  14. With about 9 hours to go, it stands at $1,004.99... Now up to $1,259.99 with less than 4 hours to go... That's about $420 a CD... Ouch... It's likely shill bidding falsely pumping the price up. Ebay's new policies favor shill bidding. how does the favor bit works, then? JB
  15. an old threat, but an useful one! JB
  16. I did d/l them also, will try to listen to them this weekend, although I do have weekend shifts...
  17. OK, so now we have TOCJ, TOCJ24, CC, Connoisseur, RVG, JRVG a few MFSL and now KRVG versions of Blue Note CD reissues. this makes me dazzle, dizzle or whatever you may call it...
  18. Meaning you just got your hands on it, and are surprised it's taken this long to discover it? Or, does this mean you don't have it, and wish you did? meaning I just discovered it, don't own it, and will probably cost me a fortune to buy it
  19. that good? need to check it out, then!! JB
  20. I'm very curious and want to be in!!
