  1. I agree, but its not the way Michael sees it, and since Blue Note is where the music belongs and between Mosaic and his other gig he pretty much controls BN reissues, I'm not sure it will have a chance to be heard. That is unless someone comes up with what he suggested was the place for it: "Curios of the 1950s"
  2. Of course, but Michael has also said that one of the reasons he doesn't intend to use your transfer was fidelity.

  5. Would he consider adding several of the unissued tracks to the 1958-62 Selects that he's planning? I don't think so, for two reasons. He spoke of "fitting them" into three Selects, which suggests that he realizes that with all the recordings they did in that period, it might be a snug fit to include all of them. His statement that he doesn't think the unissued stuff is deserving of release. Also, other than the Hill Select, haven't the Selects just concentrated on original albums only and not considered alternates or unissued tunes? I think he wants to stick with that approach, and leave alternates/unissued stuff for the full Mosaic boxes.

  7. I trust that none of it is previously unissued, right?
  8. Michael definitely won't consider the unissued tracks for a Mosaic, at least not as a single Mosaic set. Said it would be akin to putting out "The Worst of The Three Sounds - The blue Note Years."
  9. This seems like the right place to mention that I got an email from Michael about some suggested organizational schemes for Three Sounds Mosaics (someone here suggested them but I can't recall who) and his reply strongly implied that he is indeed anticipating doing the '58-'62 Three Sounds, in three Selects.
  10. Obviously neither of you bought your Organissimo discs through them.
  11. See, that's where I disagree ... bad trades are part of the game. No one knew Ruth would revolutionize the game the way he did - and there are plenty of other cases of horrible trades. Don't you think the Cubs might have won a Series or two if they didn't trade Lou Brock? So, for me, I've never bought into any of the so-called "curses" except one: If you throw the World Series, you'll never win it again. THAT, my friends, is cosmic payback!
  12. I can't believe we're discussing this. There's something called kharma, folks, and the Black Sox fucked up their kharma for all eternity. THE TEAM THREW THE WORLD SERIES They will never win it again. Count on it.
  13. Well, i don't know how I could have known that, but I still managed to insert the same three names from Rod's last contribution, but you've moved on again without me ...
  14. Murray the K Pamela Z Doctor J Um, you ended up being two behind, but ironically left me with someone that can be connected to the point where we split off ... Magic Johnson Houdini Claudia Schiffer
  15. agreed. both teams are certainly due Yeah, but there's a reason why the White Sox will never be allowed by the Baseball Gods to win a World Series. They're the only ones to throw a World Series, and they are forever cursed because of it.
  16. Thanks for the links, Claude. That Playboy panel discussion looks interesting, though I have to say that on first blush, its hard to imagine a 100% commitment to absolute truth in that kind of public forum. But I haven't read it yet, so that's just an instinctual thing. Its certainly interesting that in the first few moments, Duke states that he doesn't think that drug addiction is an occupational hazard for the musician. Hard to agree with that when you consider how many people thought it was the junk that made Bird play like he did.

  20. Sorry, got confused, went with the last name instead of three new ones, with the first one connected to the last quoted one. My bad, but I won't make that mistake again.
