  1. Saw him at the much missed Bohemian Caverns in DC with his brother, Jimmy and Cyrus Chestnut; chatted with him briefly-very nice man. RIP.
  2. Dreyfus release-KoKo- was over de-noised but still sounds good so worth having. I don't have the second release.
  3. I had the pleasure of seeing this wonderful big band in the 80s at a small club in DC-a great experience. Buy this set!
  4. I've been working my way through the Mosaic Basie Roulette studio set which I bought in the 90s. Of all the sets in any genre and I have wayyyy too many, this one remains a favorite. Great sound and, of course, timeless music.
  5. Glad you're back. So, plan to upgrade, there are lots of bad people out there who will steal your data so you need current updates. External storage in multiple terrabyte capacity is fairly cheap. Keep an eye on slickdeals for periodic deals, best buy often has good pricing. I've been happy with my Western Digital products over the years.
  6. You have everything backed up??? Consider upgrading as Windows 7 is not secure.

    Coryell

I have one maybe both on cd somewhere; so, they're out there.
  8. I just picked up the Live at the Gate 1961 from member Ken-released in 2019; it's in the cue. Another Getz I like is his collaboration with Almeida released a few years after it was recorded. I find his playing truly exciting for lack of a better word.
  9. Terrific player and a nice guy-saw him several times back in the day and with Jimmy Heath. He told me he preferred percussion to the trumpet. Sadly, RIP

    Orrin Evans

We saw Evans in Baltimore recently-liked most of what we heard. Atonal at times but then quite melodic. Excellent band with Smitty Smith on drums providing real drive. Evans gave his band plenty of room and everyone was having a great time.
  11. I wouldn't mind the Woody Herman booklet at a reasonable price if anyone has an extra.
  12. I listened to part of this via the HR release last night. Excellent performance and sound. Recommended!

    RIP Tina Turner

    Wow. Great story!
  14. We saw the orchestra last Sunday-fortunately no cell phones ringing! For $45 a tik, we enjoyed 5th row center seats. This has to be the best value in classical music.
  15. I bought a Desmond Toronto set Mosaic found somewhere but it lacked the backing card of Disc VII which someone here kindly sent me a photo copy. On a whim, I reached out to Scott and he replied he would sent the missing card. Thanks Scott!!
  16. 20 years of learning a lot about jazz! Keep the groove going!!
