  1. And what's wrong with Ron Carter on Red Clay? It sounds as if he's playing it in a different key that the others. Or his bass was just terribly out of tune. There are 2 versions in the real book (in C and in C sharp) so mayby he's confused about that!!! (can't imagine actually).

The Corea/Burton set has one or two tracks not issued earlier. All the others have LP's of which some appear on CD for the first time. Some artists (read: Keith Jarrett) won't let ECM even remaster the tapes for a new reissue!!! This happened with the New York Standards set......
  3. The Vi Redd was issued on cd only for the Japanese Blue Note Club (carton sleeve format). I sold some to board members some years ago since I'm a member of the club!!! Great cd by the way.
  4. Nice spelling of Gillespie.........in the track listing!
  5. Maybe the Konitz material is burned away with the Universal vault disaster of some years ago.
  6. Magnificent????What do you mean....It doesn't say anything about the origin of these sounds on the new cd's. They've stated that LP (MV-6) was never on cd and I only told you that isn't true because I have it on cd.
  7. And as always is the information not accurate. The Moodsville MV-6 was on cd in Japan some years ago.....
  8. is going off to the races!

  9. Ludwig Beck has indeed a fine record section on the top floor of the store. I was there last august and it's in Munich. Recommended for tourists!
  10. If someone is interested I have a copy (2 actually) of Dick Griffin's Strata East LP The Eight Wonder (with 4 bonus tracks from another session) on Konnex CD's from 1994.
  11. Indeed the Ruppli/Cuscuna book is wrong about this!
  12. Hello, This is the line-up for the first side of the 78: Side A (BN-126E) Birdland Bounce Personel: Kenny Baker (ts), Gordon Longhorn (tb), Henry Mackenzie (cl), Ronnie Chamberlain (as), Johnny Dankworth (as), Ronnie Scott (ts), Victor Feldman (vibes), Ralph Sharon (piano), Ivor Mairants (guit.), Charlie Short (bass), Jack Parnell (drums) See scan. I don't have side 2 but I'm working on that one too. Cheers, Reinier
  13. I don't understand you Tranemonk. Of course each can hear what he or she wants to hear but the Cookbook set sounds terrible. The OJC issues are far superior to this new set sound wise. They are no clones of the OJC cd's for sure and sound like needle drops to me. Stick to the original cd's by Fantasy and you're all set imo.
  14. I'm following all the releases of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (on any label but mostly on their own RCO Live imprint). This besides the Gergiev LSO and Zinman Zürich Mahler's, the Schwarz Schuman's on Naxos and all the Romantic Piano Concerto's (as well as the Romantic Cello and Violin Concerto's) series on Hyperion. Furthermore I follow my favorite (living) conductors: Neeme Järvi & Mariss Jansons in all their endeavors.
  15. Vibrations, Merry go round and Heaven on Earth have never been on CD before (safe for the Jones and Young Mosaic sets).
  16. I believe Dan has some very valid points here. You don't have to be a completists (like I am in some way) to be a collector. There are various gradations of collecting imo. With Blue Note I might be a little over the top but that's only with Blue Note (the pre 80's period). And then only on CD because I don't like LP's!!! But if Hans doesn't want to be called a collector he is free to have it his way too! Long live the Jazz Collectors lovers....
  17. anyone got a complete run of TOCJ 4000s yet? uhh....yes!
  18. Depending on how you define the new Cindy........Fred is much more masculine and is "also" running Mosaic's financial stuff! He is co-owner of Mosaic.
  19. MG: your point no.1 was certainly true for a number of years in the beginning/mid 70's
  20. That is the most logical explanation Jim! Hand written numbers (especially those by artistic people!!) tend to read difficult to say the least.......
  21. I think we might not see any new selects in the near future........ A small Mosaic set is a better bet but the Blue Note set is quite recent so don't hold your horses.
  22. Why isn't the world easy to understand and easily put in boxes anymore........I was raised with 20 bit K2's from MCA type labels and 24 Bit's by Universal and now it's all mixed.......how do we proceed from here....it's a true mess!!!!
  23. I don't know Mike what you're talking about because that 10" session is included in the set.......Maybe you should buy it now when still available.
