Looking for:
Grassella Oliphant "Grass is Greener"
Soul-Jazz Material.
Stuff at Dustygroove.
No tire kickers please! You all know this isn't an easy title to locate.
I have the Japanese DSD remaster of this cd (SRCS 9765), but it's not a mini-lp.
Either way, the updated sound is terrific IMO. The bass and drum licks come through so clearly to the point where I feel like I am listening to a hiphop album. I personally think this is the best remaster I've heard of Miles Davis and you should try to acquire it. I got mine for $15 Canadian luckily.
"Turning Point" is an excellent session.
As are all Lonnie Smith dates on Blue Note. Any one of these (especially "Live at the Club Mozambique") would qualify as essential rare grooves.
I know I should get a lively reaction from Tom, but is this guy's Strata East output really all it's cracked up to be?
I am considering purchasing his stuff, but am not really sold on it as of yet.
Is he really soul-jazz? Modal? Post-bop?
Tom,
"Power to the People" has been out for a long time on cd. I've had mine for close to 2 years. I'll trade you mine if you really want it...I haven't been listening to it.
My choice:
Reuben Wilson "On Broadway"
Other than that my 2 CTI issues that I prayed for are finally coming to disc in June...."Keep Your Soul Together" & "Polar AC" both by Freddie Hubbard.
2 Mint Blue Notes.
Looking for Soul-Jazz, Rare Groove, Fusion or Funk.
Purchases from on-line stores also acceptable as trade.
