  1. Anyone willing to part with this release? Preferably the RVG release. Thanks. PM me!
  2. Thanks Lon for the input. Placed the order a short time ago. I've always heard good things about this recording.
  3. I've been interested in this release for quite some time. My question is I see it released on the Evidence label and I also see a Japanese version which sells for a lesser price. Is there any difference in quality? Should I be seeking out the Evidence version although it sells for somewhat higher price? Thanks.
  4. If you guys are really interested in knowing the condition of a particular set, it's well worth placing a phone call. The sales person I dealt with was very helpful. Not rude or short with me. I took him for his word and placed the order. Supposedly Monday I'll be receiving my order. I could always post my impressions then.
  5. I'm really excited. I've been after the set for quite some time but not willing to pay the steep prices that go on eBay these days. I seen that set go for at least 500 and that would be on the low end.
  6. I can't believe it. I scooped up The Count Basie Complete Roulette Studio Recordings for $269! I've been wanting that set for years but never wanted to pay the big price going on eBay. Sounds like talking to the salesperson the set is in pretty good shape.
  7. BB922.2 Sir Charles Thompson Hey There The Definitive Black and Blue Session
  8. Gosh I remember that show. Channel 5 of course. R.I.P. Sonny.
  9. My plan it's to get it once it is made available. My wife is a healthcare worker and she already has her shots.
  10. Found this under the video display. Herbie Nichols is interviewed on the radio show, The Scope of Jazz by Mait Eady. I purchased Nichols' handwritten scores for The Gig and 52nd St. Rag. Within the envelope was a CD with this rare interview. These were given to a friend of Nichols, Joe Muranyi, who is mentioned in the interview. This is a rare chance to hear Nichols talk about his early life studying music, Harlem house parties, hearing big bands at The Apollo, George Gershwin and jazz criticism. It is a phenomenal interview, and the only time we can hear the speaking voice of one of the most original pianists and compsers. The photos of Nichols are by Francis Wolff from the Mosaic Records collection. https://www.mosaicrecordsimages.com/p... The music featured is primarily from the Blue Note Records catalog. Thank you and enjoy - JASON MORAN
  11. I posted this on Facebook earlier this morning and got a similar reaction. That's why I decided to share this with you guys.
  12. I saw this posted yesterday on YouTube by Jason Moran a radio interview on WBAI from 1962 featuring Herbie Nichols. I posted here in case no one else has heard this before.
  13. She just got her first shot on Tuesday. Usually she won't even get the flu shot but times are different obviously. Makes me feel better. One of her coworkers tested positive and brought the virus home and infected her spouse. He's 78! Apparently both are okay.
  14. As some of you know my wife works at a assisted living facility and she has been working some incredibly long hours recently. Between staff and residents there must be a dozen people infected. For example the last 3 days she's worked nothing less than 12 hours/day. She might catch a break tomorrow and only work an 8-hour shift maybe 9. As of now she's off Tuesday but nothing's guaranteed. Of course it doesn't help when some of the staff regularly call out sick whether they are actually ill or not. She gets frustrated at times and I don't blame her.
  15. The facility my wife works has been covid free until 2weeks ago. Now 2 residents are infected and 2 staff.
  16. Today nearly 750 cases. Small potatoes for most, alot for Maine.
  17. The Scarborough store is the store I spoke of in an earlier post. The jazz section is tremendous. Unfortunately for me I haven't stepped inside yet. At this point it looks like sometime in the new year. Covid cases in the state have skyrocketed in the past couple months.
  18. I'm certain there has been discussion on this release prior. Any thoughts on this release? I may be able to get an affordable copy this year.
