  1. Is there a complete Manu discography somewhere online? I'd really like to know and find more of his recordings, especially from the 70's. What when where with whom for what labels etc etc....
  2. Mr Lateef's complete Impulse sessions, live and studio, would also make a very nice Mosaic!!??
  3. Where did they forget all the excellent Yusef Lateef albums??
  4. Maybe some of you might be interested in this one. One of Europe’s leading big bands with very special friends. First class playing and soloing by all the above and many others! 5. I am so thrilled about this happening. A dream come true. And can't help dreaming of the next one. Maybe the 1960 tour wirh Coltrane? Or the 1969 quintet? Or some 70's gigs? Still wondering if Sony is going to release decent set of the 1975 japanese concerts (unedited set of pangae, agharta & dark magus shows...)?? Or a complete Legacy edition of the early 80's recordings...? No sign of Mosaic vinyl version (of bootleg series)?
  6. If Warner Bros have dropped such plans (Mwandishi box), why don't they license the tapes to someone who's willing and able to use them in an honourable way?
  7. I would also welcome a comprehensive and detailed Hancock boxed set. Unfortunately The complete Columbia ALBUMS box will not satisfy my needs. The Complete Herbie Hancock & The Headhunters Live/Studio RECORDINGS (1973-1975) is what I've been desperately waiting for the past 20 years. As compared to the aforementioned Miles data available, it's hard to believe there's not even a detailed Hancock sessionography anywhere on the web (or is there?). And btw, the same concerns Weather Report too...
  8. BTW, is the Japan only (???) quintet album The Sun (recorded September 1970) still property of EMI/Toshiba? I wonder if there's any possibility for a world wide edition... Never heard this one. Can anyone tell how's the music: free, fusion or...? Is there any resemblance to the aforementioned trio / quartet material? http://sudo.3.pro.tok2.com/Quest/cards/C/ChickCorea/index.html
  9. I had to look for the track lenghts and yes, I was wrong: The 1970 BN recordings do not fit into 2 discs. As you can see below, the total lenght of the quartet recordings is 73 mins which is just fine for one cd. However, some of the trio tracks are longer than I remembered, making the total lenght as long as 99 mins and that requires two discs. So hopefully we’ll see the select happening some day. And a decent Legacy edition of the November 1970 and March 1971 dates. Or a bigger Mosaic combining the studio & live material. 10. I still don’t comprehend how would you assemble a three cd select of Corea’s Circle and pre-Circle trio recordings if it really has to be all from the same label. Their BN material is by no means more than two CDs. BTW, I’ve never understood why it’s too difficult to licence stuff from two or several different labels. It’s only mathematics after all, isn't it? Could it possibly be easier in case of bigger Mosaic? In that case I would add the other Sony/CBS live album as well. So how about a four disc set: CD 1: Studio, trio recordings, April 1970 (BN) CD 2: Studio, trio & quartet recordings, August 1970 (BN) CD 3: Live In German Concert, November 1970 (Sony) CD 4: Live, Gathering, March 1971 (Sony) The Complete Chick Corea Trio & Circle Blue Note / Sony recordings !!!???
  11. Great! Thumbs up for the select. But is there enough material for a three cd set? A few years back I suggested a 2CD conn including the following sessions. That would make only a 2 cd set. Wish they could fill the third disc with live recordings, maybe the japan (only?) cbs LP Live In German Concert (recorded in Iserlohn, Germany, November 28, 1970)...!!?? As far as I know, that would make The Complete Circle 1970 sessions... 12. Thanks for the news. 11 cd´s including the vocal tracks - a dream to come true. Wish there was a new Duke Mosaic every year. But what can we expect AFTER this one? What could be the next logical era waiting for a Mosaic treatment? The Complete Columbia & Mercer studio recordings?
  13. I wonder if there's any chance to see a Mosaic treatment for some of the Columbia quartet recordings? I'd prefer a big one (complete... something?) and wouldn't mind if some of the stuff were already reissued - even by Legacy. As long as it's a logical and complete set in some way or other. What would you suggest?

    Cal Tjader's Fans

Cal Tjader Mosaic would be essential. What would you inlcude? I wouldn't mind a huge one. How about the complete Verve recordings? If that's too much for one set (maybe 8-10 cd's???), the stuff could be divided between live/studio or smaller/bigger groups.
  15. I’m anxiously waiting for details and more official confirmation for the bootleg series. It could mean a dream to come true, but it might as well turn out to be just a couple of well known live recordings with better liner notes. In a perfect world they would gather all the existing live tapes, pick up the jewels and produce logically arranged de luxe boxed sets out of them. One box devoted to each of the most legendary line ups (eg. with Coltrane / with Shorter, Hancock, Carter & Williams / with Shorter, Corea, Holland & DeJohnette etc...). But hey, why would they deal with the bootleg stuff before they’ve run out of unissued or re-releasable Columbia vault material? As far as I know there’s still a fair amount of live tapes waiting for a decent re-issue treatment, at least from the 70´s.
