  1. My quintet is now playing on Thursday nights in Dallas at a place across the street from the State Fair grounds.

The Meridian Room has terrific dishes. Part of our deal is that we get a free meal, and nothing I have eaten there has failed to ring the bell. Nice staff too.

And now we are on Thursdays instead of Tuesdays, the crowds are much better knock on wood.

    As usual:

    Greg Waits - trombone

    Jim Sangrey - tenor sax

Todd Parsnow - guitar (Todd tours with Roy Hargrove's RH Factor)

    Russ Allor - bass

    Garry Granger - drums

Try and stop by if you are so inclined! Say hello and hang out. No cover.

    We play from 9-12 now.

  2. Sorry to just read this. I have been so busy lately that I haven't listened to it yet.

Billy Byers has always been one of my favorite 'under the radar' players and arrangers. I am expecting it to be very good.

Picked this up last week on Ebay. I am surprised I didn't get sniped. Vinyl and jacket mint. Looks to be never played.

How is it? Thought about getting used on Amazon once or twice, but it seem too pricey for my mood at those time.

  3. Dropped in at an estate sale. Saw a ton of LPs and 78 rpms.

This one was among the pristine 78s that I snagged cheap.

Jay McShann's Hootie Blues with Charlie Parker's first recorded solo (commercially released)
