  1. Another superb Italian pianist is Renato Sellani, a tasteful, sometimes melancholy player. I have the following of his recordings: Chapter One – Italian Mood, Philology beautiful solo album, dominated by traditional italian songs and Sellani originals There's No Greater Love, Philology nice effort with trombonist Gianluca Petrella O Sole Mio, Venus great trio album Amapola, Venus wonderful piano duo recording with fellow Italian Danilo Rea
  2. This is a good one indeed, as is this one:
  3. A superb, but underrated tenor player in the mainstream tradition. He made some fine recordings with Harry Edison's Quintet in 58-60 and with the Count Basie Big Band in the 70's.
  4. We even could deliver it ourselves door to door and save any postage...
  5. Arnvid Meyers Orkester: Right Out Of Kansas City (Sundance) 5 cd's + 1 DVD

  8. I was interested in the Bob Scobey album offered by Mikelz777. Mikelz777 just informed me, that he will not ship outside the US. I was not aware that this thread is for US residents only. Meanwhile I got a PM from someone who is interested in my Ellington set. I will ship the Ellington twofer anyway, so I have one future cd free. I shipped the Ellington set to the UK.

I will ship the Ellington twofer anyway, so I have one future cd free. hey, i didn't know there were US only threads... maybe we could start a visible/invisible thing as with the political forums... one thread less i have to read anyway... (put differently: tommy, if you're angry, i will gladly share your anger with you) Thanks, Niko, for your sympathy, and thanks, Flurin, for your clarification. Of course I was slightly irritated by Mikelz777's answer, since I noticed that there were overseas-shippings earlier on. Anyway, I will ship everywhere and that should be the policy of this thread, otherwise it does not make much sense (Germans shipping inside Germany only, British shipping inside Great Britain only, Swiss shipping inside Switzerland only...).

  11. PM sent. I am offering the following double-cd to the sender of the first PM: Duke Ellington: En Concert Avec Europe 1 1965 (2 CD), Trema
  12. Off the cuff, he did a Porgy and Bess for United Artists c. 1959 with a big band full of big names, IIRC. Here it is. F Bill Potts did another fine big band album in 1987 on Jazz Mark, the title is "555 Feet High". He is also known for his arrangements for the 1960's Buddy Rich Big Band.
  13. Some lovely stuff there, Tommy! Bit heavy on the wallet, though! Yes it is, but I simply could not resist... I guess you can fully understand that!

  15. The Birdland All Stars On Tour on RCA sounds like announcements and applause are fake. Am I wrong?
  16. Additions (in italics) and some price reductions.
  17. I strongly recommend the Bechet / Spanier Big Four sessions; they are on the Mosaic H.R.S. box set and on this one:
  18. I purchased the book for a decent price via an amazon dealer; it has all the information I was looking for. By the way a great book with lots of additional information on the recording dates, backgrounds, BG and various band members. Thanks Greg.
  19. PM sent re Charlie Ventura / Flip Phillips Set
  20. I second that: The Verve Hampton/Peterson Box is a must have for every fan of Hampton and/or Peterson, great playing by Ray Brown, Buddy Rich, Buddy DeFranco and Herb Ellis too.
  21. This is a nice one, as is the whole album "The Broadway Bit".
  22. Les Trésors Du Jazz - 1957 (Le Chant Du Monde)
  23. I have a four-disc compilation of Benny Goodman on V-Disc issued on the Collectors'-Choice Music label. The discs contain small group and big band recordings, presumably recorded between 1943 and 1949. There is no information in the liner notes on the personnel and exact recording dates. Does anyone know of any discography of BG's V-Disc recordings? I would be very grateful for any help.
