  1. 12 - that's only the ones that are on Pi. There are other ones on bandcamp. I like this one a lot: https://billlaswell.bandcamp.com/album/too-much-sugar-for-a-dime
  2. Everything comes to an end eventually, and Mr Davidson is 80 already. I am very grateful to him for all the music he released. I ordered from him directly numerous times, always an excellent service. I probably have most of the EMANEM / Psi CDs I need (more than a 100, that is), but I hope some way (streaming, bandcamp, etc.) will be found to have this wonderful music available to future listeners.
  3. Here you are, Sir: https://books.telegraph.co.uk/Product/Henry-Threadgill/Easily-Slip-into-Another-World/28230593 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Easily-Slip-into-Another-World/dp/1524749079/ref=sr_1_2?crid=37OB1U0L6H53L&keywords=1524749079&qid=1682369727&sprefix=1524749079%2Caps%2C150&sr=8-2
  4. These are different pieces, they're just titled the same . I like the solo set more, although I have not listened to it all.
  5. Mosahiko Togashi with Steve Lacy and Kent Carter. Good stuff, although it would have been great if it was just a Togashi-Carter duo. Lacy's participation makes it more "ordinary". Great sound. It's five albums of which four (with the exception of "Down South") are available from Ogun on bandcamp: https://ogun3.bandcamp.com/music . The music is OK, not spectacular.
  6. In excellent sound. I understand it's made available by Glenn's daughter.
  7. Very sorry to hear this. Coincidentally, was listening to "Moon", his beautiful lyrical duo with Kirk Knuffke on NoBusiness, just yesterday and was thinking that I need to explore more Berger. This one was recently reissued on CD for the first time.
  8. Very sorry to hear this, Bankhead was an excellent musician. I love his playing and sound. That duo with Fred Anderson that Chuck references in the first post is really fantastic: https://ayler-records.bandcamp.com/album/the-great-vision-concert
  9. It's on Spotify as of recently:
  10. "Heart" is solid. Nothing earth-shattering, I agree. The only other album of Nahorny I have is "Pioseniki lwowskie" recorded in 1995: https://www.discogs.com/release/8000514-Włodzimierz-Nahorny-Piosenki-Lwowskie . It's a mainstream folk-type thing with accordion and violin, Nahorny plays piano exclusively. It's cute.
  11. I have both. I listened to a couple of CDs from the solo set, they are excellent. I have listened to only the first CD of the duo / solo set, and it's a nice one as well, very lyrical. The balance between instruments is not perfect - the reeds are upfront and too harsh-sounding at times, bass a bit recessed and sounding quite shallow as if it's a cello. Please note that the last (and the longest) CD of the 3-CD set is solo by the bassist, Motoharu Yoshizawa. For Takagi, there is a very nice release on NoBusiness: https://nobusinessrecords.com/mototeru-takagi-live-at-little-john,-yokohama-1999.html
  12. Don't know about purchasing physical SteepleChase objects (maybe try contacting the label directly webmaster@steeplechase.dk ?), glad they are on streaming platforms, but here is a nice recent interview with Nils Winther (the label founder): https://www.jazzwax.com/2022/02/interview-steeplechases-nils-winther.html .
  13. To everybody who (justifiably) complains about the quality of Discogs data - you guys know that you can edit the Discogs database, right? @Ken Dryden does: https://www.discogs.com/user/askkendryden .
  14. Wanted to listen to some Benny Golson and went for this one on Spotify. There is actually not that much Golson here, but a lot of Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw. One of them is extremely annoying going into weeee high register every three seconds. Guess who? Great drumming by Ben Riley.
  15. Favre is Swiss. It's (great) Jean-Jacques Avenel on "One More Time", not Jenny-Clark.

    RIP Tony Coe

Fantastic musician, one of my favorites. Love his records on Nato, particularly Tournée Du Chat. Also, he is great on Free Zone Appleby 2003 (Psi) with Evan Parker, Phil Wachsmann & Co. There is a duo live CD recorded in 2007, released in 2021, Dancing in the Dark. Coe plays clarinet exclusively. It's excellent as well.
  17. I disqualified myself from the BFT by peeping, so just a quick note since it was not identified - the first track is from this album: https://www.discogs.com/release/10910192-Ken-McIntyre-Hindsight . I think the artist was a mildly interesting composer but a mediocre player on all instruments, and his bassoon sounds decidedly clumsy (I appreciate that this is an extremely tough one to master). Track 12 - maybe some Paul Smoker trio stuff, although I tend to think of Smoker is a more varied trumpeter than this. Good stuff still. Drummer and bassist way too busy. Track 14 - would this be Wadada Leo Smith in some Miles project? I don't like Smith's sound and his ideas either, so I do not know his work that well. Sounds like him to me.
