  1. Very sad news, indeed. I remember seeing a wonderful concert in Iowa City with Rooster... Rest in peace, Mr. Hill.
  2. I saw Ornette with Natalie Cole, but didn't see the sign. Good eye, Chewy.
  3. Sorry I was staying away from Organissimo forums after the Chiefs lost. My picks were Baltimore, New Orleans, Chicago, and San Diego. Since I didn't give my picks before the weekend, you don't need to keep me in the poll. This week, I am picking New England and New Orleans (although I think Indy will win).
  4. I will join for playoff games. Here are my picks: KC Dallas Philly NE
  5. This is also one of my favorites!
  6. Very sad news, indeed. I will miss his interviews. Since I didn't grow up here, I didn't discover 60 Minutes untill 90's (after I came here and started watching NFL on CBS). NFL games on CBS was kind of lead in for 60 Minutes for me.
  7. Will do. I saw him once in Columbia, Missouri when he was playing in Milt Jackson's group in mid '90s. I didn't know him back then (I was new to jazz then), but now I have very high respect for his contribution to jazz.
  8. Yes. He plays at Ortlieb's several times every month. In addition to Jazzmatazz, this site also provides a schedule of upcoming events. Thank you for the website. I am looking forward to seeing Mickey Roker!
  9. I will be in Philadelphia between 09/14 and 09/19. What is the best source for live jazz (and record stores) in Philly? I already looked at jazzmatazz website. I wanted to see Eliane Elias at Zanzibar Blue, but tickets are too expensive for me. I will probably go see Dave Allen quartet featuring Seamus Blake (I don't know who Dave Allen is, but Seamus Blake is worth seeing live.) I noticed Mickey Roker quartet playing at Ortlieb's Jazzhaus. Is this Mickey Roker the drummer who is on so many recordings? Any recommendations are welcome.
  10. How much were the Coltrane (and Evans) box sets at the Concord sale??? I saw them while they were still available, but ordered 50 or so individual CDs instead. I should have ordered the sets, too... The Coltrane box set was going for $69.99. Great price! Knowing the price makes me regret even more, but I wanted to know the price. Maybe I will try to order one from those German sources.
  11. How much were the Coltrane (and Evans) box sets at the Concord sale??? I saw them while they were still available, but ordered 50 or so individual CDs instead. I should have ordered the sets, too...
  12. I thought about going to see the trio at Birdland last month when I was in NYC last month, but didn't go... Now I regret.
  13. A couple years ago in Detroit, he introduced himself as "Jon FATASS", and everyone laughed.
  14. I've been waiting for his new CD. I am definitely picking it up!
  15. I got the second confirmation for my order that included the Ellington K2.
  16. I ordered 51 CDs (with free shipping) Thursday afternoon and got the second confirmation yesterday.
  17. I will be in NYC in a few weeks. I am looking forward to visitng a few of these stores!
  18. I listen to Blue Note Radio when I don't have any new CDs in my office. I tried to listen last few days, but can't get to their radio any longer. What happened to it?
  19. Ver sad, indeed. Rest in peace, John.
  20. Very sad news. I met him when I didn't know much about jazz (well, I still have lots to learn.). Come to think of it, I just went to see him to get his autograph on his "Golden Age of Jazz" book for my ex-girldfriend. She liked Billie Holiday, so I asked him to sign his famous Holiday photograph in the book. I later gave the signed book to her. Thank you for a good memory, Mr. Gottlieb.
