  7. One thing heavy-LP-collecting in the past 10 years has not changed, it is to primarily associate jazz artists in the 80's (Pullen/Adams, Horace Silver, Sphere, Woody Shaw, Abdullah Ibrahim, Waldron etc.) to their live recordings I used to -also- heavily collect. I will be glad to read your entries to modify my perspective.
  8. Some great records/reissues from Shepp recently: the LP reissues of the Venus Records (Deja Vu is my favorite) the ORTF recording from 1974 on Transversales Disques. The LP reissue of Wo!man with Kühn. A recent record -that I have not listened yet - with two of my favorite East-Coast hip hop artists: https://www.discogs.com/release/15923339-Archie-Shepp-Raw-Poetic-Damu-The-Fudgemunk-Ocean-Bridges The Fontana reissues with the classic Marte Röling covers. This duet with Jason Moran. Solid performance from Shepp where Moran is quite unobtrusive, leaving ample room to Shepp while structuring the compositions.
  9. Gene Russell - New Direction Randy Weston Sextet – Monterey '66 Waldron/Marre/Gouirand - Le matin d'un fauve, live au Petit Faucheux.
  10. From the past days at work: Haunted Heart: Fine, in the vicinity of dandyhood. Steal Away: Gorgeous, one I will come back to often. Night and the City: I loved a few of the live/bootlegs from the two. This record is a bit restrained and cold in comparison, still good. The Art of the Song: Not my cup of tea Nocturne: Good vibe, I enjoyed it!
  11. I only have Love Songs and Catania, both recommended!
  12. Such a beautiful record! I have the 2016 LP reissue along with the recent (&affordable& shady??) reissue for "decorative" use. Now Presenting Ernie Henry.

  16. August 2008, NYC, Charlie Parker Jazz Festival, Marcus Garvey's park, just before the Rashied Ali's set. A man with a smile bigger than life finds its way to the seat right behind me, it's Dr. Lonnie Smith. I must have stared at him like 10 seconds until he gave me huge wink! Those little trivia that made that journey even more memorable. Thank you for the music!
  17. P J Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea The Heshoo Beshoo Group - Armitage Road (RE) Lester Bowie - Numbers 1&2 Horace Tapscott Quintet - The Giant Is Awakened (RE)
  18. Zoot Sims - Warm Tenor Warne Marsh - Posthumous Mal Waldron News/Run about Mal Roland Hanna - The NY Jazz Quartet in Chicago
  19. Very sad. I saw him in Marciac in August 2007 with Cyrus Chestnut - who was subbing for Hank Jones - and then at Birdland in August 2008 with the Richie Beirach Quintet with Brecker, Huebner and Hart, George was stealing every minute of the shows.
  20. Very sad news, thanks for the laughters.
