  1. I was surprised when I read this obituary. For some reason, I thought that Colin Dexter had passed away some time ago, around the time that John Thaw, who played Morse in the TV series, died. For what it's worth, I liked the books very much when I read them, and thought that the television version of Inspector Morse was well done. Thanks, Mr. Dexter.

Great interview. I doubt that I'll buy the set. I'll just reread the interview.

Fred Anderson & Harrison Bankhead: The Great Vision Concert (Ayler) Magical
  7. What vinyl are you spinning right now??

I listened again and it still sounds to me like Beaver of "Frankenstein" and "Fiesta", and Roy on "Damn" and "Sophisticated". I could be wrong. I've been wrong about a lot of things before - just ask my wife about that.
  8. What vinyl are you spinning right now??

According to the liners, Haynes is on "Damn If I Know (The Stroller)" and "Sophisticated Lady". Beaver Harris on "Frankenstein" and "Fiesta". Sounds that way to me. There must be a story how Carter and Haynes ended up playing on this date. Or perhaps Shepp called them and it was just a recording gig.
  9. What vinyl are you spinning right now??

Yup - original issue laminated cover. Impulse was special back then. Also forgot that Ron Carter was on bass until I was playing the record. I think it was bit unusual for him to be on this sort of date in 1968, but perhaps I'm wrong.
