  1. The MP3 download can be bought for 11 Euro http://www.and-more-bears.de/
  2. After the Pirate Bay verdict in Sweden, the local Pirate Party got 7% at the European Parliament elections and now has one seat in that parliament. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_Party I don't expect a similar thing to happen in the US, but surely this verdict will make some politicians react, given how widespread filesharing is.
  3. If that is the actual damage she is supposed to have caused? I thought punitive damages would only be granted when the accused (for example a large company) can afford to pay them.
  4. In this context, it is often joked about new releases or reissues being made on 8-track. But this has become a reality now, with Cheap Trick's new album, available on CD ($13), LP ($20), and 8-track ($30 ) http://cheaptrick.shop.musictoday.com/Product.aspx?pc=CTAM64
  5. On arelated note: How about those two guys with their 134 billion dollar briefcase? If the bonds are authentic, they will have to pay a 53 billion dollar fine to the italian treasury. 2 Japanese carrying $134 bil worth of U.S. bonds detained in Italy But they are probably not: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...id=afJXAA1ahZyo
  6. The end of the story is that they found the mattress intact, but it turned out that it was full of Lehman Brothers certificates
  7. Next time you go to a jazz concert, start whistling during solos, and when the artists or the rest of the audience complain about your behaviour, tell them jazz is not polite music.
  8. You just forget to add that they didn't only boo the two musicians but they also cheer them during the same concerts. You seem to ignore than people from conservative jazz circle use to go to concert to boo the avant-garde musicians of the time a crusade who ended often with fight with those who love and support them in the same concert. Listen better to both records (you should have no difficulties with the good hifi that you certainly have) and you will hear it clearly than the applauses conter-attack the booing. Yep, in this years (the sixties - and it was the same in movie theater about the films of the "Nouvelle-vague), the scene was alive, don't you think? It sounds like there were two fractions within the audience, competing against each other with their expression of disapproval and approval. I'm sure that in other countries there was the same difference in opinion on Trane's playing. It's just those people - unlike the Parisians - were polite enough not to disrupt the concerts. You don't hear any whistling on the Miles/Coltrane 1960 concerts recorded in Sweden, Denmark and Germany. Another example of the french "jazz hooliganism" is the reaction to the Eric Dolphy and Charles Mingus "dialogues" at the Antibes 1960 concert.
  9. He's a professional: http://www.jimmyjump.com/
  10. In order to include personel information automatically in the cataloguing software, it would require a database of all CDs including this info, which can be accessed by the software. That is a huge challenge. The two main databases in this field - Gracenote (formerly CDDB) and freedb - do not include personel info. http://www.gracenote.com http://www.freedb.org
  11. But the dumb-ass award of the tournament goes to this guy (from Barcelona?) http://galeries.lalibre.be/album/Striker/
  12. The information policy is indeed questionable. In the very first reports, it was said that the cause of death would not be disclosed, in respect for his family. Then it was published that he was found with a rope around his neck and that there was no trace of foul play, which suggested suicide, i.e. the most distressing cause of death for family and friends. I think that therefore the information that he did kill himself accidently and not on purpose comes as a relief, although what he did is embarrassing. Society has evolved, even a Formula 1 federation boss who was filmed in a sado-maso session wearing a SS uniform and beating hookers dressed as KZ prisoners does not have to resign ... So I think David Carradine will be remembered for his movie legacy and not for his embarrassing cause of death.
  13. It's also strange that the plane does not send a position signal when flying in an off-radar zone.
  14. Wow, we've come a long way from that. I bet that in 150 years, our CDs will sound worse than that
  15. R.I.P. I only discovered him a few weeks ago, with "Kill Bill 2" that I saw for the first time. Impressive performance.
  16. Enjoy while it lasts ... Simona Halep gets a boob job Edit: damn, one minute too slow with my post.
  17. I think the bollards used in the picture are the simple, removable ones, which are not nearly as resistant http://www.autopa.co.uk/autopa_bollards.ph...ge=retractabase
  18. Not funny, because it's old and a myth http://snopes.com/photos/automobiles/bollards.asp
  19. Paris has the worst tennis spectators, but Roland Garros is actually better off than the Paris-Bercy indoor tournament, because at Roland Garros a large part of the tickets are reserved for tennis club members from the whole country, who appreciate the game more than the local Paris crowd. It's no coincidence that it's the Paris audience who is immortalized on jazz live recordings from the 60's for booing legends such as John Coltrane or Jimmy Giuffre.
  20. Already in July 2007. The french Wikipedia page says that they had financial problems since the end of 2005, when the sales of their biggest selling artists dropped (Romano-Sclavis-Texier sold 800 copies in 2000, but only 150 in 2005). In 2006 they made a 100.000 Euro deficit, and reduced their recording sessions. In July 2007, they ended all activities. No bancrupcy was filed, but the company is no longer active. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Label_Bleu
  21. It's actually $300 per album, and they are only sold in a subscription where you need to buy at least 6 titles, i.e. the minimum investment is $1800. http://www.tapeproject.com/subscription/subscription.htm
  22. I got "Natural Essence" on Ebay in 2005 for less than $20, so I guess there wasn't that much demand for this CD at that time.
  23. Such a list would only make sense if you can put your individual weighting into the different criteria for quality of living.
  24. I spotted a Google Street View car a few days ago in Luxembourg city. If it was taking pictures, I'm on them, as I was standing on the sidewalk. BTW, I wonder when Google Street View will be banned to prevent terrorism ... Police delete London tourists' photos 'to prevent terrorism'
