  1. Absolutely love, love, love this album. I think it's one of the greatest albums ever.
  2. Sword of Honor Trilogy by Evelyn Waugh. First book is by far the best, the other are okay, but not earth shaking.
  3. Actually looks like they're getting it contained. Hopefully, we won’t have to get out.
  4. Dang! Two water planes and three helicopters within two miles. We expect to be told to evacuate any minute now. Send up good thoughts!
  5. Hot, 104, and now the added bonus of fires. True story: My secretary had his home burn down during the fires a couple of years ago. Yesterday, he's driving to his home, police & fire department have the roads closed -- fires are moving toward his newly built home. *Sigh*
  6. The bad part about the whole thing is that the Giants have this clueless manager who plays worn-out guys like Hunter Pence & Pedro Sandavol, who can't play, and then moves around the younger guys position to position, where they aren't able to get confidence since they're staying in one place. This Kapler guy is hopeless, I can see why he did so bad with the Phillies. His bullpen management has to be seen to be believed. Dude, just play the young talent, let them make mistakes, lose games, the team will be bette for that next year.
  7. And I thought watching the Padres play during the 1970s was bad, the Giants are giving those old teams a run for their money during this season.
  8. The temperature will come down from 107, to all of 103 today. I'm sure I will notice on the second floor of where I live, with no a/c. I'm melting!
  9. This is still true -- this Kapler guy loves to tinker with the lineups. Going into this new season, I was doubtful about enjoying it, but I have to admit, I'm enjoying watching baseball again. I've gotten use to the no crowds and lack of noise; the players seem to be taking it very serious. I hope it can keep going through a World Series.
  10. Again, Astros' prove themselves classless and terrible for the 1,234,556 time.
  11. I've been wondering what "close contact" is, so I looked it up on the CDC Website. I found it helpful in my understanding of the term. Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated. Data are limited to precisely define the “prolonged exposure” to determine “close contact”, however 15 minutes of close exposure can be used as an operational definition for contact investigation. Factors to consider when defining close contact include proximity, the duration of exposure (e.g., longer exposure time likely increases exposure risk), whether the individual has symptoms (e.g., coughing likely increases exposure risk) and whether either the case patient or contact were wearing an N95 respirator (which can efficiently block respiratory secretions from contaminating others and the environment). At this time, differential determination of close contact for those using fabric face coverings is not recommended. In healthcare settings, it is reasonable to define a prolonged exposure as any exposure greater than 15 minutes because the contact is someone who is ill. Brief interactions are less likely to result in transmission; however, symptoms and the type of interaction (e.g., did the person cough directly into the face of the individual) remain important.
  12. Melody Time. Been catching up on old Disney stuff thanks to Disney+
  13. I never said masks are worthless, what I meant was that any charge against not wearing masks is going to face a whole lot of experts and articles stating the contrary, so a person, most likely, will beat the charge. Personally, with a 82 year old mother, believe me, I where a mask every time and anywhere I go.
  14. But then the lawyer produces a ton of experts and articles stating that masks are worthless -- verdict: innocent. This country's Covid response is a mess right now, and I don't see it getting better or more coherent any time soon either.
  15. Watching dance numbers from movies, top two after two hours of viewing a lot,
  16. And a lot of it goes back to Kapler, he's so in love with analytics, moving players around so that they wind up out of position or playing positions they're not familiar with, and so they do terrible. I could go on and on, but he's not totally to blame, the Giants front office is driving all of this, and I'm not all that keen on Farhan Zaidi either. Both Kapler & Zaidi need to get their heads out of a computer and look at players, not rely on stats all the time.
  17. Two San Francisco Giants facts beyond doubt: 1. The Giants defense is abysmal! 2. Gabe Kapler is a terrible manager.
  18. We're less than two weeks in the season and it's already been so freakin' weird...
  19. Culling books is important. I was asked recently to go through the books in a monastic library, and in a couple of days, over 3,000 useless books were gone (I found a good home for them, and not the dumpster!). No reason to keep something that's not going to be read.
  20. If a third team gets hit by Friday, it's over. MLB might get by with two teams out, but a third one? It gets shut down quick.
