Thanks chaps. I had a really nice day today with my pupils taking their French oral exams.... Lovely dinner at a French restaurant tonight! I am now about to place an order with Mosaic to put an end to the celebrations. I haven't made up my mind yet but the Braxton or Quincy Jones are the most likely.

Does anybody know which retailers offer the best prices for the Classics collection either in France or in the UK?

You are clearly not alone on this one. I have read a lot of positive posts on this set from other board members on the O'Day set. And if you feel a bit isolated, how should I feel now...listening to the Mildred Bailey set? CD2. Very enjoyable stuff.

Are these CDs gatefold or jewel cases? What about the rest of the collection? Is every single title available in both formats?

This set is a goner! It has to be a record. Straight into 'last chance' and gone within a few days.

Tough decision but it would be either the McLean, O'Day or the Basie Roulette Live sets.

I think the Mulligan was the first one to go OOP.

Sorry for the panic attack, Bob. Just thought that exchange rate could be even crapper soon which is why I also order the Hackett. I keep forgetting to go for surface shipping though. Arrrgh. No problem Yves. For a minute I thought the Hackett was on 'Last Chance'. The £ can't get much lower - or can it? Don't know. I am not an expert in those things but we have it pretty bad at the moment. Holidays on the continent cost a fortune and getting jazz music from the US costs an arm and a leg. Really cheesed off with the whole thing now. If only we were part of the Euro zone... Anyway, these two sets are a bit of a gamble for me. Not sure what to expect. I got the June/Lee set on the basis that I really love the few vocal Mosaic sets I own, especially the Anita set.

Good ! Must order soon.. This set will soon be in Bristol too as well as the Bobby Hackett. Not sure what to expect with the latter but I couldn't see myself bother Mosaic for a mere $72!! Another for the Farlow and the Columbia Small Groups set. The Farlow is a must IMHO.
