  1. Thanks, chaps. Some useful info here.
  2. I hope to take the Rega plunge next week and order this P3-24. It now comes with the TT PSU as a package ....and the Elys2 is a few hundred extra. Based on the scattered research I've done, this seems like an exceptional TT. You will love it!! I owned a Rega P3 for three years ( same green as this one) and it is an absolute gem! I have decided to replace it with the entry level of Linn last year but I can guarantee you that this turntable deserves all the praise you can read here and there.
  3. Up for this topic. Looking for recommendation for a subwoofer in the region of £500. Any suggestion? I have found a good deal on a M&K V850. Any good?
  4. Not much has been posted since it was released... Any love for this set?
  5. Jackie Mclean Anita O'Day the 1st Johnny Hodges or Grant Green or Larry young or Miles Davis/Gil Evans or...
  6. I am also looking for 504 Misha Mengelberg 'The Root of the Problem'... I missed it in the list I posted originally. Please PM if you want to get rid of it!
  7. I really enjoy the very few flute sessions I own ( mainly Herbie Mann and Sam Rivers) but I have only got three or four CDs. Which Herbie Mann albums would you recommend and more generally what are the best flute albums in your collection? I have always been amazed at how underrepresented this instrument is in jazz music.
  8. Least favorite Mosaic? T-Bone Walker, by miles. The music just doesn't do it for me. I have been very close to selling it many times but for some reason it is still on my shelves.
  9. If it is the same 'Caiman' as the company that sells on Amazon.com, I would avoid these guys.
  10. OK.........I succumbed. I've always wanted this set anyway. You won't regret it. My fav Select with the Hill sets.
  11. Just added 2 Hatology CDs I am prepare to swap or to include in a trade. See 1st post.

  13. Indeed. You are both right. The list is on its way.
  14. I have been digging this label a lot recently and I am trying to find a few titles. I am looking for the following numbers: EDIT: For full titles scroll down to post 6. I have Lee Konitz 'Thingin' and Joe Maneri 'Out Right Now' to trade or swap. Please send me a PM if you need more space on your shelves.... Paypal payment only if you are outside the UK . Thanks.
  15. Great news! Better though would be to see the £ strengthen or the $ weaken. It is incredible how quickly the British pound has fallen in the last 6 months! Mosaic orders have been put on hold for me partly because of that. And with the risk of having to pay for the dreaded custom charges make things even worse, I am waiting for better times. Only 'Last chance' stuff will be considered here...
  16. I recommend surface shipping. No charges for my last two orders although they both exceeded $100....
  17. I love this set but I agree with you on Headin' South, Clunky. It is the weakest of the lot. At least, I like the sleeve.. For those of you who have some King pressings and the LP set, I'd be interested to know how they compare soundwise.
  18. I am so glad to have found the LP version of that set. Incredible music. For $80 it is a steal.
  19. Yeah, I saw that. I think he even personally admitted it on the documentary. Very sad news - and way too young. He added a strong jazz element to recordings such as 'Animals' on the Fender Rhodes. My fav Pink Floyd album. This album is underrated IMH. very sad news. RIP.
  20. No panic here, I had the Donaldson set and got rid of it ages ago because of its to my ears horrendous sound quality - loud/maximized/things like that In my view it's one of the very few Mosaics with really bad sound. I have most of this material on LPs ( mainly Japanese King reissues). I am only missing two sessions which haven't been reissued in Japan. If the Mosaic set is poor soundwise, I may as well try to find the missing material on original BN records. Thanks for the tip.
  21. Sorry guys! I didn't intend to cause so much panic. I got a bit confused with the Mobley set which has been around for quite a while... Panic over, I hope. Normal life can resume...
  22. I received my Donaldson box yesterday 1 Aug 2008 and its number is 1853! So, 3 years after this discussion started and 6 years after the release of this marvelous set, it has not yet reached the halfway point... Very strange... I already listened to the first CD two times! Best Alex This has been discussed many times around here but I suspect you were not with us at that time. The set numbers don't really mean much. The fact that you have received number 1853 doesn't mean that they have only sold 1853 sets. I am sure this one is not far from going OOP. BTW, welcome here!
  23. Just ordered it! Difficult to resist once you have read the reviews posted on the Mosaic website and here. Went for surface shipping. Not sure what to expect as it is the first time I go for this option. Hopefully the parcel will be here before the set goes OOP.
