  1. Lance had built what has finally been dismantled; the greatest cover up machine imaginable, in a sport that's been a 2 wheel PED machine for decades. It's hard to fathom he kept all his accusers at bay for a decade and did it with teamates that were more than likely as dirty as he was. Not an avid follower, but 2 instances from TDF that I remember clearly were where the team time trial when the commentators were gushing praise as they'd never seen anything like it and they absolutely smoked the field. The other was a late stage on the mountains where they were saying his yellow jersey was in danger of slipping away where Lance just passed his #1 adversary as if he were standing still and and had rockets on his bike. You could see the dejection on the other rider's face as he could not handle what Armstrong produced. In retrospect, admirers used to *explain* the prowess in similar fashion to other cheaters like Bonds & Clemens, saying that those guys had workout routines that were above and beyond the competition, and in Armstrong's case they used to say that because of his comeback from cancer, his muscle mass and such were reduced to the point that it was some kind of advantage when he returned to good health. Unbelievebly great covering up, along with crazily determined people who stayed pissed off and determined not to walk away from charges against Lance!

  4. With the O's just winning in the 13th, every series have gone the distance. Some compelling baseball games, with the exception of the Tigers/A's finale being one sided.

  6. Yesterday was quite a memorable day from all the days I've watched baseball. These one & done games Friday are strange and seem a bit unfair and out of place. If they want to consolidate the schedule, perhaps 1 game in team #1 city , followed by a travel day and a scheduled double-header (2nd game if needed) at city #2. Team that wins 2 consecutive moves on...SOMETHING other than this.

  14. And after the Feds went after Bonds, did that stop the PEDs? Is that some sort of a defense of something or someone in particular, or is it about some other vauge notion?

  17. 1st baseman Gonzalez claimed off waivers by the Dodgers. Whether they do a deal or not is another story.....
  18. What a mess! I saw elsewhere where Jan Ulrich, whose career ended with a doping scandal, will receive three of the seven (former)Armstrong TDF wins. If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there, does it make a sound? If Lance Armstrong went to the podium in a yellow jersey 7 times at a famous bike race did anyone see him win? If Reggie Bush hoists the Heisman Trophy, did he achieve anything on the field of play? (read recently that he recently/finally gave it back) Did Penn State Football participate on the winning side of close to 200 games, prior to the well noted and ongoing scandal? Aren't sports a great diversion from every day problems?
  19. Summer softball beer league score: Angels 14 Boston 13 in 10 innings Red Sox get out to a 6-0 lead by the 2nd inning.....Angels get 8 in the 3rd.....Sox take the lead late 11-9 only to lose it.
  20. 23 out of the 37 MLB players suspended for PED violations since 2005 are from Latin American countries.
  21. Melky Cabrara hit .255 in Atlanta....not the previously mentioned '.158 or something' which was used or made up to make some kind of point There's never been any PED spotlight whatsoever towards any American League teams like the Yankees (Giambi, A Rod, Andy Pettitte, Clemens) It's messed up in 2 ways that the home field advantage in the World Series is based on the winner of the AS game: 1) foolish decision by the commissioner going back to the infamous *TIE* 2) this year's winner compounded by the winning team MVP being a known & suspended cheater.
  22. Spanier lawyer rips Freeh report. He's got quite a way to go to find someone with a brain to believe what they're shoveling. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8292444/ex-penn-state-nittany-lions-president-graham-spanier-lawyer-blasts-freeh-report
