  1. Credit where credit is due..... Two hot teams squaring off in Oakland. The A's have taken the first 2 games of the 4 game set against the Yankees. Last night, a well played game that the Yanks tie 2-2 in the 8th to lose to Oakland 3-2 in the botton of the 9th. 10th walk-off win for the A's leads the majors. One more time the A's restock young arms and position players for the rest of MLB. Those who proove they can produce, eventually get paid, which is NOT what the A's do, so the roulette wheel turns; like all-star pitcher for the Nats, Gio Gonzalez. Which of the A's rising stars will be playing for your favorite team?
  2. Missed point being that no purpose served by keeping a likeness of one of the persons responsible for allowing child rape to continue on the grounds of the same football facilities where incidents were witnessed happened. I'd wager no actual direct comparisons to Lenin or Sadaam were intended other than statues of them were torn down & removed. I'm just sayin'.....
  3. "The decision whether to remove or move the Joe Paterno statue from outside of Beaver Stadium is expected to be made by Penn State president Rodney Erickson within 72 hours, a source familiar with Erickson's plans...." http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8184260/joe-paterno-statue-call-made-penn-state-nittany-lions-president

  5. (close enough for jazz division) Holly & Dustin Hofmann Charles & Elle McPherson
  6. This falls under polygamous and, if Flip is playing Geraldine, gay, too. I'll let you sort out who is Wilson Phillips and who is Flip
  7. He's so much better than when he first came up, now that he's 'natural' using his speed and being a line drive hitter with ocassional HR power, rather than all yolked up trying to be what he's not. I had to wonder if this was the same guy who broke in with NY in 2005
  8. Yankees are 23 games over .500 with the best record in the majors.
  9. Javon and Janet Jackson Joe and Serena Williams Sheila and Michael Jordan Charlie and Sarah Jessica Parker (quick check...2nd w/Bird) Mad & Roberto Duran
  10. Wes, Monk, Buddy, & Elizabeth Montgomery ( it was an open relationship )
  11. Paterno family still doesn't get it "Now that Joe is dead and isn't here to speak for himself, the family is essentially planning to construct its own competing version of an "official" history to stand alongside the 267-page report that Penn State commissioned from former FBI director Louis Freeh, a man who supposedly knows how to construct conclusions that will withstand the harshest scrutiny for any hint of prejudice, malice or factual mistakes, a man whose investigation unearthed disconcerting documents that hadn't been presented by prosecutors before now. This is an act of stubbornness and defiance by the Paterno family...." http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8171490/paternos-review-freeh-report-unneeded Earlier, I couldn't exactly put my finger on precisely why Jay Paterno's media interviews and the family's continued defense of the departed patriarch bothered me so much. This sums things up perfectly as far as i'm concerned.
  12. That's a relief, and surely was offensive to everyone when it became common knowledge. If any or all the 168K came during the time frame connected to the dates indicated with the crime period he was convicted of, it would be fair game, IMO, to take it back. The 3 meals and a bed he's now receiving are quite enough.
  13. Not surprized. The eldest son, I believe, has been the one taking interviews and the like. Seldom does he refer to the late coach as 'my father' or 'Dad' but you do hear him talk about "JOE" as the main reference. It's kind of creepy to me... I think I understand some of the passion to keep the old man's name clean(er), but I gotta say that any glory they can still attach or keep associated with the name absolutely translates into $$$$ for the surviving family members, and the possibilities of football jobs for the sons as time transpires and the dust and smoke eventually clears.
  14. Personally, I think schools with a high incidence of heroin abuse should be called IV League. Not the complete story, but why should we expect anything more from someone whose hallowed halls were as close to Ivy as China is to Mexico. I thought we were all supposed to be on a personal insult time out
  15. I'll continue to post that we broadcast on the web for the moment; that said we haven't streamed the past 3 weeks consecutively. Sorry for the inconvenience if you've tried to tune in. Have gotten all kinds of calls to the studio from regular listeners who miss receiving us on the WWW. Summers at the university is a combination of misc. fix-up projects at the same time reduced staff and less communication than other times of the year. I'll try to find out what's up and post anything we find out regarding this.
  16. I had seen this. Get the golden parachute package in place before it gets really ugly.
  17. Paterno statue to remain... The embattled members of Penn State's Board of Trustees quietly have decided to leave Joe Paterno's statue standing -- at least for now and, some hope, forever, according to sources with firsthand knowledge of the trustees' private discussions this week. The trustees' reluctance to remove the statue is motivated, in part, by a desire not to offend alumni and students who adore the late coach despite the damning findings of his role in the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse cover-up detailed in the Freeh report, the sources said. http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/8166643/joe-paterno-statue-remain-penn-state-sources-say
  18. I'm not being the 'belaborer' here; the guy lurks over at the other place and tries to get some form of *payback* on me here. WTF? I do appreciate the point you've made.
  19. Good! Maybe we can have the other Bozo stand down......
  20. Thanks, Dan. For the record, I never was defending Paterno. I was, however, attempting to focus on the difficulties in gaining a conviction of a pedophile, the manner in which that must be done and, at the time, with no tanigble evidence to accuse Paterno of anything beyond what some folks here think one man can do when the authorities dropped the charges. . Now that the Freeh Inquiry is out and with tangible evidence linking Paterno to the cover up, I am convinced he was a part of the whole thing. You see, I don't make assumptions about anything or anybody without proof and because I don't some folks here [including the interlopers from another BBS] took that to mean I was this "ardent supporter" which I am not. Never have been. I mean, geez...I'm a Native Californian. Why in the hell would I even care about Big 10 football? I do, however, care very deeply about students and the victims of child abuse. And if that's my crime, then you can hang my butt from the nearest flagpole. Clearly the *record* shows you defended Paterno to the hilt while mounting evidence of the types of discoveries the report announced have been lining up like waves. Anyone can see it at another BBS under "Goodbye Joepa" thread if one wants to kill some time. This is not about you and your deep care of students, and so far as interlopers, did someone around here appoint you greeter? HA-HA!! Where are the mods when you need them? I have a right to be here like everybody else, except for this guy's harassing and challenging my participation here.
  21. Mr. Radio Dude, EVERY comment that has been made here is pertinent to the Sandusky case. Broaden your mind and maybe you'll see that. In the meantime, if you don't like what you read, move along. It's really that simple. Or, here's an idea, make a well-thought out, meaningful contribution. Better yet, make one at the PSU board. I'm sure you'll find many like-minded people there. Tiddly-Winks Team Captain Exactly, JetMan. Some people here just don't get it. Mike comes from a BBS which encourages verbal clutter and mental vagrancy. Well put, my friend. Mr. Hijacking busy at work!! That other BBS is the one at which you've been banned for life, right?

  23. Does anyone want to make a comment that relates to Penn State and/or the Sandusky case? Could give a crap if the place you went to school lost a nickel fielding a tiddly-winks team.
