  3. Turner Field is only 17 years old...was quite surprised to see this. Somebody (plural) is making some serious bank on this deal, and some other folks are going to get seriously hosed.
  4. Reminds me quite a bit of this....Yogi Berra on Jazz: Interviewer: Yogi, can you explain jazz? Yogi: I can't, but I will.... 90% of all jazz is half improvisation. The other half is the part people play while others are playing something they never played with anyone who played that part. So if you play the wrong part, its right. If you play the right part, it might be right if you play it wrong enough. But if you play it too right, it's wrong. Interviewer: I don't understand. Yogi: Anyone who understands jazz knows that you can't understand it. It's too complicated. That's what's so simple about it. Interviewer: Do you understand it? Yogi: No. That's why I can explain it. If I understood it, I wouldn't know anything about it. Interviewer: Are there any great jazz players alive today? Yogi: No. All the great jazz players alive today are dead. Except for the ones that are still alive. But so many of them are dead, that the ones that are still alive are dying to be like the ones that are dead. Interviewer: What is syncopation? Yogi: That's when the note that you should hear now happens either before or after you hear it. In jazz, you don't hear notes when they happen because that would be some other type of music. Other types of music can be jazz, but only if they're the same as something different from those other kinds. Interviewer: Now I really don't understand. Yogi: I haven't taught you enough for you to not understand jazz that well.

  6. The Evil Emire made a qualifying offer of $14.1 to him, Drew and Napoli. For those math confused....$42.3 million for just one year. Meaning the Giants are not only going to have to give up a draft pick for Ellsbury....they're going to have to give him a whole lot more to go from a team that might have a chance to get in the WS to the Giants. P.S. Of course, no buying of WS in all of that. I'm fully expecting them to offer quite a bit more than the Sox. Given his age and like all signings hoping for good health still think it's a good move. If Pagan is a 16 mil player and Pence signed 90 mil for 5 years then Ellsbury should get paid and come to Norcal. That would be a really decent plug in OF. Then your utility guys do what they're supposed to do....fill in on days off and cover occasionally and NOT be starters.
  7. Speaking of the Giants, they should take a serious run at Ellsbury. He'll lead the planet in triples, drive in plenty of runs, play a great center field, and eliminate the stupid Punch & Judy hitting non-productive platoons that they've had for years. That guy is built for their ballpark. Move Pagan to left. The Dodgers are going to run away from the pack. They're out from under the Zito contract.....a bold move worth taking.
  8. Maybe he's just that good. Or is PEDs the only answer? Yankees jealous hate knows no bounds, apparently. Sad. Last I heard he's a Giants' fan, but not a homer that defends juicers. FWIW, which isn't much, I'm a Yankees fan above all and do root for both the Giants & A's too because baseball is much more enjoyable & interesting to me when the local teams are playing well. I also follow the NY area football, basketball, & hockey teams some, and have become an avid Sharks (going to the game tonight) & Warrior fan. According to another poster who recently chipped in and is on ignore, I'll wager that my level of fandom breaks several unwritten rules
  9. Perhaps through Sue Mingus http://mingusmingusmingus.com/sue-mingus/music though it appears this has been suggested. She worked very hard to overcome much piracy of Charles' music and owns the rights to much of it (if not all?)

  11. Being from NY I saw him on some pretty bad Knicks teams, though he was very good. He was on a club that had Willis Reed come into the league and played forward with "Big Bells" at center. In the '68-'69 season was traded to Detroit for Dave DeBusschere and went on to become NBA champs [Knicks]
  12. When is Big Poppy going to be enshrined in the PED HOF? 38 year old guy making a mockery of the best pitchers in the game; absolutely raking in the playoffs turning around 95+ heat like it was nuthin' He's been the darling of both the fans & the press, and has gotten a pass for the shit he's done beyond practically anyone else with a big name by far!
  13. Last night was the worst game for a guy who scored big of any I've seen in my life. Stef Curry got 38 against the Clippers and played a horrible game; had 11 of the team's 24 turnovers by himself. Can't guard anybody. While he seems to have a pretty good handle, he often has a careless one and last night took the prize.

  20. Rex is running the defense which is what he does best, and they've improved tremendously at 'O' coordinator after the terrible Shottenheimer [sp?] who's messing up another team this year. How that guy continually gets a job because of his daddy's name is beyond me. Titans were supposed to be a better test than they turned out to be, but that's why they play the games....
  21. RIP Ronald Shannon Jackson I'm probably showing my age, but posting the man's demise ( and peoples names) in lower case is disrespectful and in this case a little creepy . I hope someone fixes it...thanks
