connoisseur series500
lightweight stuff. I'm attached to Gato Barbieri, "Ruby Ruby." Even with Herb Alpert's overproduction and everything. I just can't part with the cd. I also still like a lot of Michael Franks stuff as well. I do tuck the cds far into my cabinet, and I don't listen to them anymore, but I might go back to them later on... O' the shame... -_-
couw
I have been bashed by silence already. No need to jump out and start yelling "look! here I am, try and hit me if you can!" again.
garthsj
Is anyone looking??? No one.. ? Then, O.K. I have always liked those lightweight west coast albums by pianist Paul Smith on Capitol Records ... "Liquid Sounds" etc. Tell nobody! davef
At the risk of losing credibility on this board (now the only jazz board I post to), I have quite a few Walter Wanderley albums! Cheesy, but fun!
Matthew
I'm in the process of buying the pop-jazz stuff of The Crusaders. It's nice music to relax to. Plus, I just got Free as the Wind for .50 cents, which is what I'm buying most of their lps at.

I also really like Seal. and Sade..... sometimes.
Jazzmoose
You people are sick. All I can think of right now is my surf music fetish, but that's different, of course... Edited May 15, 2004 by Jazzmoose
rachel
You want sick, Moose? How about Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Yup, got it, and it's IN THE CAR CD PLAYER. I gotta be me...
AfricaBrass
I have to admit that I love those old Jackie Gleason LPs. I'm one of those people that was thrilled when the Hackett Mosaic appeared.

couw
The Lounge Lizards that's a confession? why do you think the LLizards should be in this thread? Seriously, I'd be interested in the answer.
Brandon Burke
The Lounge Lizards that's a confession? why do you think the LLizards should be in this thread? Seriously, I'd be interested in the answer. I used to like those records but they're too *ironic* for me at this stage in my life. I still very much enjoy Lurie's film scores and Nat'l Orchestra stuff, however.
rachel
uh oh.... doubleM is gonna see that I have Michael Jackson's Thriller and all of my wise credibility is shot.

I still very much enjoy Lurie's film scores and Nat'l Orchestra stuff, however. hey, I am in "that" stage of my life as well and I welcome some fun. For me "irony" is not the right word. These people do mean what they are playing, just that they like to mix them styles a lot. And then, I think most of the most ridiculous fun is to be found with Lurie (or Marvin Pontiac), and much less so with the Lizards. Their self titled debut is still a remarkable album. No need to place them in a crappy stuff confession thread I think.
Jim Alfredson
You think that's bad, rachel... I made a horrified Joe G listen to some early Elvis on the way to a gig once... The stuff is so cheesy, you gotta love it!!
Jazzmoose
I had a comment in mind, but I just realized I was confusing the Lounge Lizards with the Flying Lizards...
