Two Jims and Zoot- Fontana (mono)- gentle - perhaps too much bossa but a decent album if not one for the desert island

For your delectition, just happened to come across Charles Fox's Gramophone Magazine review of this one..

Review

What was the original US release label - was it Mainstream?

Fair review, pretty much reflects my feelings too. Yes it's a Mainstream recording.

Funny, I've always liked this album a lot.

decent transfers on this LP - Billy Banks & his Rhythm Makers (CBS)- hot jazz but vocals not helpful. Banks is ok but occasionally gets in the way. The high point of Eddie Condon's career?

next up the June 1924 Gennett solos by Mr Jelly Lord on Ferd " Jelly Roll" Morton (Fountain FJ 104) - decent transfers by John RTD. Recent purchase and my first exposure to these tracks.
