Chuck Nessa
Azar Lawrence - Bridge Into the New Age. As far into spiritual soul jazz as I wander - non vocal tracks are quite fine. Jean Carn continus to do nothing for me. I'm with you on Jean Carn. Azar never did much for me either.

BillF
I have that album, John, but never thought the Holman arrangements sounded quite right with Basie. For Basie of that period, I much prefer listening to the Sammy Nestico albums.

Kevin Bresnahan
Herbie Hancock - The Prisoner (BN). Nice original blue & white label Van Gelder pressing. No matter how many times I hear this date, I still don't hear Tootie Heath, "rock drummer", in this music that much even thought the liner notes claim that it is there ("Duple meter, Shell! Serpentine!!"). There are times when I do wonder if a Bob Newhart Show trumpet solo might pop up. All joking aside, a thoroughly enjoyable late 60s Jazz LP. sidewinder
Herbie Hancock - The Prisoner (BN). Nice original blue & white label Van Gelder pressing. Picked up a copy last year - a UK Liberty blue/white with the 'Van Gelder', first one I've ever seen of those (and a very short-lived variant I think). A good replacement for my old Pathe Marconi DMM.
