chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez
i wonder how coltrane got in on this one, him at donald byrd recorded a lot that yr, rt? (this was rec 12/57). it seems to be a good sounding recording, i like the sound of blakeys cymbals on this (stereo Bethlehem, blue label) really weird though, its like an art blakey solo project, away from the jazz mesgrs. now i have to get that blue note art blakey big band lp. that ones going to be hard to find. isnt there a liberty reissue of that? might have that one..... clifford_thornton
Still want an orig of this - never seen one though. There was supposed to be an authorized reissue of this when Lasha was still alive but I think with his passing it fell apart.

I've been going back and forth on whether or not to purchase this lately. Thanks in advance.

chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez
TRICKY LOFTON & CARMELL JONES - Brass Bag (1962 Dutch mono 8-track LP ) again, this is so much better than the pac jazz orig. ive not found too many uk or european versions like this but i have a few and theyre all amazing. i have this esquire or something pressing of Paul Chambers delegation from the east on JazzWest-- it sounds better most originals. its all in the quality of the vinyl, and the covers look way better too as well. i have lots of these in rock/pop, but not in jazz. the only drawback is they are not as indestructible like the US versions, i cant just plop them in one of my many record piles. they vinyl is fragile as glass on some of them, i have them in a special area
jcam_44
Donald Bailey - So In Love Only gotten to listen to Side 1 so far. LP was in rough shape due to being dirty when I bought it two years ago. Cleaned it with wood glue and I'm getting to hear it for the first time. Awesome. jeffcrom
David Mack 'New Directions' (Columbia Lansdowne, mono) Didn't know anyone else here knew that album. I have the U.S. version on Serenus, with this cover: Despite Max Harrison's high praise for this album, the music more interesting than great, I think. But I haven't spun it for awhile; I'll do that soon.
