Grant Green, Sunday Mornin' (Blue Note/Slow Down Sounds) LDG65216_.jpg

Duke Ellington, Newport Jazz Festival, July 4, 1959 (Foxey). The cover is like the White Album. Variable sound but a lively and interesting performance. I wonder if this has ever had a more legitimate release?

That looks like part of what's on the double album--most of the instrumental tracks, leaving out the vocal tracks with two vocalists (the omitted Jimmy Rushing tracks are quite good).

Picked this up at an estate sale today.  Recorded at Malibu Beach and issued by a budget label called Spinorama.

Took a detour once to check them out in person. Quite memorable !

The Coltrane album is a definite ‘find’ - some lovely music on there, albeit short tracks - and in RVGs superb mono sound. Vinyl version recommended !

Too bad about the side 2 of the pressing - clicks and pops. Without that issue, an excellent release. Probably better vinyl quality than the original A&M Horizon too (which were on the thin side, typical of that vintage).

Lovely UK CBS mono copy

That's a nice one. Recall that the tracks were labelled in the wrong order on my copy.

Great music , but I remember before I purchased it I read Bill Coles´ Miles Davis biography and he wrote it off, saying that it´s "an insult on the intellect of the people", but ...... he was wrong, it´s great.

That font - and the monochrome - almost looks like a Mosaic. :)

Hadn't thought of that. But you're right.

Only it wouldn't be "crooked"!  ;)

I wonder: Why the extra "e" at the end of Newborn? ... Don't they know it's bad form to misspell a musician's name on his own record!
