Why does Stan Kenton get to smoke in the room with the modern art and  me and my family don't? We pay taxes too!

Probably a suggestion by the photographer for posing?

Now this

Neal Creque - Creque [Cobblestone, 1972]

Only had one listen. Struck me as an instrumental Soul album more than Jazz.  Not a bad thing at all.

The Tonepoetization or simply BN-LPization of late Don Pullen,  late Lonnie Smith, late Wayne Shorter (Without a Net) would also be welcome.

Now playing:

Archie Shepp & Joachim Kühn - Wo!man
Ryo Fukui In New York
Föllakzoid – I

The Prestige Blues-Swingers featuring Coleman Hawkins - Stasch (Prestige/Swingville). Idrees Sulieman, trumpet; Jerome Richardson, alto sax, flute; Coleman Hawkins, tenor sax; Pepper Adams, baritone sax; Ray Bryant, piano; Roy Gaines, guitar; Wendell Marshall, bass; and Walter Bolden, drums.

The guitarist, Roy Gaines, was an unknown to me. Mainly a blues guitarist, he only recently died (August 2021) and seems to have made a name for himself as a sideman. Fun record.

I somehow missed this recording until @sonnymax started a discussion about these Prestige jam sessions. It's very good and I'm glad I was able to pick this up for around $25 for an older RVG pressing.

Nice. Now I know where the cover design for U Roy's Dread In A Babylon found inspiration :tup

Now:

Milton Nascimento - A Barca Dos Amantes (Barclay/Verve, 1986)
Special Guest: Wayne Shorter

Produced with a very 1980s sheen -- but gorgeous regardless. Nascimento's amazing voice and songwriting carries the day.

Plus Wayne does his thing on a few cuts.
