That one is combined with ‘Mingus Plays Piano’. Edited 5 Dec 2021 by sidewinder

Posted 6 Dec 2021 (edited) Oliver Nelson shoot-off between early US orange/black stereo and 1976 UK pressing put out by Anchor Records with US sleeve. The early US version sounds lovely - bags of RVG punch where it counts, excellent dynamics. The UK Anchor Records, which used the HMV tapes I think, sounds also very good indeed, albeit with less punch and a few more pressing glitches. Extremely musical though and benefited from an RCM spin. I was wondering if I ‘needed’ the new AP version and I guess the answer is probably no. My hunch is that the AP will sound not unlike the Anchor. Edited 6 Dec 2021 by sidewinder

First impression of ‘Blues..’ is that it sounds amazing. Leaves the old Anchor version for dust. Likely my new ‘go to’ copy now. Sleeve quality superb too and at least up to Tone Poet standards. Posted 6 Dec 2021 (edited) Next up - Verdict - definitive issue, by far the best version of this classic I have heard (don’t have an original). Charlie Mariano never sounded better and the Spanish guitar sound is exquisite. Edited 6 Dec 2021 by sidewinder
