Wow! That's an incredible batch of music you've got there. Don't feel guilty. You'd only spend the money on something less valuable anyway.

And hey, what did somebody say about money - they're printing it everyday! But they sure aren't making music like this everyday! I know the money's not coming out of my pocket, but I'd say you've got a million bucks worth of music there. There, feel better?

You did very good, MM. I have all of those sets and love them. What a diveristy of choices you made, too! I know it seems like a lot of money, but I wager you'll still be pulling these boxes out to listen to 10 or 20 years from now. Seems to me like a jazz is a lifelong love for most; I know it is for me, and it makes me more likely to invest the coin in getting great music. Good call on the JJ, too, as it will probably go out of print very soon. You will be deriving pleasure from these purchases for a long time to come. :tup

Couw - I'm guessing your comment was made tongue in cheek

yes, it was.

I have noticed myself that music can be acquired faster than it can be taken in. A purchase may be one click and second away, but to get acquainted with the music takes several spins and hours.

Tell me about it! I picked up Dinah Washington's THE BEST IN BLUES about a year ago and didn't get around to listening to it until today.

Ah, well--see various "backlog" threads, etc.

Just don't get all excited and decide to purchase the Sonny Stitt Mosaic box. I don't have it (yet). Your purchase of said box might lead to me having feelings of jealousy. ;)

Your large purchase makes great sense. Just consider the money you saved in shipping charges! We can all learn from your frugality!

That could have been 16 (sedan sized) tanks of gas..... maybe.....

The ironic thing is that I drive a 77 Lincoln Mark V and gas is over 2 bucks a gallon. Thanks for the rub in.

Sonny Stitt sounds pretty good right now.

:D

I know how you feel. I constantly have those guilty feelings....

Guilt when I buy too much and guilt when I don't buy enough and my local Borders stores and CDUniverse call me up and say, "Hey, what gives? We haven't seen you in a while, we might not make our sales goals this month...."

I agree with the post that purchasing such great stuff will be enjoyed by you for many years to come. However I question purchasing some many sets at one time. Firstly, such a large purchase is certainly a cash flow dent. One at a time can be consumed easier. Secondly, there is new stuff coming out constantly. RVGs and plenty of cool stuff on jazzmatazz. I ususally purchase a Mosaic when it is something I MUST have. For example, I probably will get the Farmer/Golson set, when it comes out. I can put off the Eldridge, even though I certainly won't let it get past a last chance list. Don't let my style put a damper on your purchase, because I'm sure you weighed the pros and cons and overstudied the Mosaic booklet. Guilt is just a useless negative feeling that serves no purpose once you make the plunge.
