Hardbopjazz
I had an Internet radio station on today and heard a Lou Armstrong number. Towards the end of the tune, in his solo, he basically plays the theme, which Dizzy would write years later, and we come to know as Salt Peanuts. I wish I had found out what tune Armstrong played. Would any here know what tune I am referring to? I pretty sure Dizzy was listening to this and thought, "hum," and wrote salt peanuts right after this. Armstrong was playing bop and didn't even know it.
Harold_Z
DING DONG DADDY FROM DUMAS. Here's the AMG link. The JSP set is my preference on this one. Pops just blasts out the lick on a break towards the end of the tune. No mistaking it. http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&u...dy|{From|Dumas}
