The more recent Q-LP sets were in fairly limited quantities, Dmitry. I recall that when I picked up the Horace Parlan at 'running low' someone on the BNBB (can't recall who) mentioned that there were around 500 of them.

That makes sense. I've seen the Blue Mitchell Lp Mosaic maybe twice this year.

Same goes for Rivers and Fuller. Too bad.

I wish they'd just say 5,000 sets of which 500 are Lps and 4,500 cds.

though I was perversely happy to bid up the recent Rivers (for our  porcy).

Thanks!!!

I could not bid till the very last minute due to time zone: in Italy the ending time is usually in the middle of the night and I use to sleep.

I put the max I am ready to pay, considering the average price on former auctions.

The only price out of control was the Brooke's set, someone outbidded me for 2 bucks so I bidded again 2 bucks more, I was expecting to be outbid in the last minutes, I went to bed and the next morning I discovered I had to pay more than 300 dollars, definitely too much for this set.

Another consideration: the Rivers set price is cheaper then the near mint copies of the original albums, (without considering the extra takes). The Blakey, Morgan and Mobley sets are hugely cheaper than the single Lps, apart some very late Liberty pressing. And Mosaics sets are usually well cared by the former owners, I would not say the same for most BN 50's and 60's Lp I see on eBay.

So, if you want the music on vinyl Mosaic is the cheapest way to get it.

If you want the music tout court cd sets are cheapest, and sometimes single cds are cheaper than Mosaic.

I agree w/ your logic, and I was pulling your leg. I did badly want the set for $250 or whatever I bid. The Rivers set is expensive because of the fabulous alt takes from FSS, and the terrible original LP issue of Dimensions and Extensions. Great original copies of FSS and Contours can easily go for $75-125, so there you go.... (I have one of each, and a mint A New Conception, so if I land a set I'll be selling those.) Dealers tell me they are surprised that the Rivers set has such great resale value. Same w/ the Fuller. I think BN lovers generally recognize that the Curtis Fuller set is so amazing, and because The Opener tends to be quite rare in top notch condition, same with the Japan LP Two Bones, they value that set a great deal as well.
