I'm sure that two guys with such vast musical personalities and integrity, however, will produce something at the very least completely fascinating. Clugston Posted January 9, 2007 Report Share Posted January 9, 2007 According to the Braxton group on Yahoo, the duo will happen “probably next Spring in Bologna or next Summer in London.” Not sure if that means 2007 or 2008. Braxton has long been a Cecil Taylor fan and Taylor has described Braxton as an important artist in interviews. I wonder if the seed was planted following Braxton’s duo recordings with Andrew Cyrille. The first track especially - how many other musicians could, by sheer force of personality, seemingly, have kept Cecil from the keyboard for half an hour or so (that's roughly how long he spends inside the instrument and/or reciting poetry, IIRC)? I was just scrolling through to see if anyone had mentioned the Brubeck record with Braxton on one side and Konitz on the other. BTW I have a vague memory (as many of mine are nowadays) of Braxton and Cecil teamng up in the '70s-- or at least a teaming up being announced. There's been enough militant fervor over whether or not Braxton can play in the box/under the table, and I think he fits in fine among more "conservative" company.
