From this list it would have to be 'Smokestack' but my all-time faves would have to be:

- Sam Rivers 'Dimensions and Extensions' (way cool ..) and 'Contours'

- Johnny Coles 'Little Johnny C'

- Johnny Griffin 'The Congregation' (another Warhol - nuff said !)

- Horace Silver 'The Jody Grind' (check out Horace's chicks ! :excited: )

:rhappy:

Funniest is definitely GOOD GRACIOUS. Couldn't resist sticking that one in the list.

Those were the days of the fatassa models :P:P:P

Otherwise, so many great covers - and imagine they were done by a guy who likes classical music using the photography of some german - now zat swings!

How about some sort of a "Blue Note Chappel"? (like the Rothko chappel) Sort of a cube where all walls are pasted with original LP jackets... not to meditate in, obviously...

Good Gracious is definitely a classic. Great look on Lou's face. One thing's for sure, you'd never see that cover today. Another thing that surprised me about this cd is how good the music is. It's constantly rewarding.

I know it's not on the list, however I've always liked the cover to Dexter Gordon's "A Swingin' Affair". Often times jazz album covers seem to be so serious/pretentious. It's nice to see a simple picture of someone just kickin' back with a big smile on their face. Talk about loving one's work. Their are a number of Blue Note era Dexter covers that have a similiar theme.
