One of the US sellers was clearing out many of the more obscure titles for a few bucks a pop. I remember putting in a big order via a kind member of the board. Years later, YOPP Covent Garden, London branch over here also did a clearout of much of the catalogue at £3 per disk and they were also offering some of the box sets too. ‘Fill Your Boots’ time ! IIRC, for a couple of years after the Concord liquidation, the US vendor Newbury Comics had many sales and was the "go to" destination for OJC CDs...I wonder if Newbury Comics is still around; haven't noticed them for many years. There really was a certain insanity on their part for some of those OJC-LE's, much as I was thankful for them. felser Posted February 14, 2023 Report Share Posted February 14, 2023 Collectables/Oldies.com also had a ton of OJC's at $2.99 each several years ago, and I loaded up (including the Dennis and the Tatro, both of which I still own). In addition to Oldies and Newbury, where I bought dozens, they were also sold as cutouts at bookstores in my area, and a local jazz-centric record shop marked them down in favor of the new RVG and Keepnews editions. Not even in the same ballpark as $39. Since CDs were on the rise, vinyl was CHEAP back in the 80s. Today? Not so much. OTOH, I ordered two new LPs yesterday that are unavailable on CD. Like Brad suggests, it'll probably be more comparable to BN Tone Poet series, just skimming a handful of titles off the top of the catalog. Agreed—which is even more of a reason to keep searching for the OJC titles on compact disc that you/one didn't get to back in the day.
