David

Added McPhee and Gratkowski to the Honorable Mention and Parker & McPhee to the Reissue.

I already have the recent 4CD Lacy from Hat Hut otherwise that would have been added. There are several that I recently picked up that I really like but not enough listens yet to properly place. Some others like the Miles Blackhawk I am pretty sure will make the reissue list easily. ;)

I haven't included the Blue Notes or Mosaics since those are already so well known as it is it would be obvious inclusions. But I will break down the Mosaics at my end of the year list which will included Box Sets.

Oh yea, The Led Zeppelin CD & DVD is my #1 Rock releases for the year. It's going to take a lot to surpass these for me in this section.

It should be interesting how many of these will make the final list and what their final position will be.

b3-er

I just picked up your release but haven't listened to it since there is a good amount ahead of it and I like to listen to things in the order they come in.

Wayne Shorter's latest Alegria has to be on the list of the best without question

Have I missed something? Don't you mean it should be without question on YOUR list. I never said I was speaking for anyone but myself.

This is my list. Personally I don't like the Shorter at all but that is just me.

The whole Idea was that we would see each others list and in that way maybe get some recommendations on things we where considering but didn't pick up yet or things we missed altogether.

Don't leave out Kenny Garrett's "Standard of Language". That's some hot shit!!!!!

That's fine, so include it on your list. Myself, I find it more of a blowing session that really doesn't do much for Me. But once again that is Me! To each his or her own. Instead of telling me what should be included on my list, why not make your own?

I loved going back and reading these lists over on JC when I first discovered the site. It quickly became very informative and very expensive. I found some great discs I would otherwise have missed this way.

So far I haven't really heard too many 2003 cds, so it is going to be tough to come up with a list. The Brotz . Drake / Parker will definitely be up near the top...that set smokes!

I still haven't heard the new Shorter...why didn't it work for you?

I'm going to cheat and put a late 2002 disc down here. This will not be an easy disc to track down, unless you got o one of the musicians themselves. I got my copy at the Ray Anderson show last night:

BassBrumBone - March of Dimes

recorded live at the BIMhuis Sept. 26, 1997. Features Ray Anderson, Mark Helias and Gerry Hemingway. Great live set!

Also, on the reissue front:

Schlippenbach Trio - Pakistani Pomade

Tim Berne - Fractured Fairy Tales
