Chuck Nessa
In this thread I chastised Jim, Big Al and Soul Stream for ignoring (thus dissing) Baby Face Willette. In spite of the bad feelings we went to hear Organissimo at Billy's Lounge last night. Spotting Ann and me in the crowd, Jim started the first set with "Swingin' At Sugar Ray's"! Then he blew it by calling it "Stompin' At Sugar Ray's"! We still have a way to go "Big Boy".
Big Al
Drat! I wish I could've been there to see that! Not that I would've been able to say anything about it; hell, I probably would've looked at Chuck and said, "Who did that song?" Did they play any Brother Jack? Soul Stream
Yeah, but did they play "Swingin' At The Savoy?"

connoisseur series500
Well count me in as another who hasn't quite fully appreciated Baby Face Willette. I do have the two Conns, but sold "Mo Rock" and "Behind the 8 Ball" after I had listened to them, liked them, then got bored with them. His music hasn't quite hit me yet. I think the cds sound okay but they're not outstanding. I'll put them on again today.

Soul Stream
Baby Face Willette on "Face To Face" is GOD!!!!!! (Well, so is Ben Dixon and Grant Green too). That's why it's one of THE greatest organ records of all time.

Jim Alfredson
Yeah, I blew the name, live over the air. I've had to lock my doors and turn out all the lights because strange people keep coming over to my house to berate me. It's like I don't even have a life anymore.... It's not nice (nor gramatically correct) to refer to Chuck as "strange people." Unless he brought friends...
