Posted 5 Feb 2012 Having an old family recipe today: pasta in "pink sauce," which is simply a ricotta cheese-tomato sauce blend. Small chunks of beef that have been braised and then stewed in the tomato sauce rounds out the place. Add a nice red wine and you have a very tasty, and now that I think of it, a very sensual dish. Posted 5 Feb 2012 Cabbage is wonderful. Damn straight!. I made a nice white bean soup last week w/ cabbage, kale, and risotto that was quite good. Tonight, pasta with arugula pesto, carrots with pine nuts and currants, arugula salad with walnuts, and a nice glass of chianti.
Posted 6 Feb 2012 Cabbage is versatile, cheap and good. Chinese wok fried with pork and dried mushrooms, or with garlic, ginger turmeric and chillies plus a touch of garam masala, shredded and cooked with mashed potatoes in patties covered in Besan batter- the list is endless. Here it's often shredded and eaten raw as an accompaniment to many deep fried dishes.
