What are celery beets? At age 56, I'm finally developing a small taste for beets. Go figure.

Beets? Man, I have always liked red beets...great stuff

T-Bone on the BBQ with baked potatoes and fresh steamed veggies tonight. Yum!

Having an old family recipe today: pasta in "pink sauce," which is simply a ricotta cheese-tomato sauce blend. Small chunks of beef that have been braised and then stewed in the tomato sauce rounds out the place. Add a nice red wine and you have a very tasty, and now that I think of it, a very sensual dish.

Cabbage is versatile, cheap and good. Chinese wok fried with pork and dried mushrooms, or with garlic, ginger turmeric and chillies plus a touch of garam masala, shredded and cooked with mashed potatoes in patties covered in Besan batter- the list is endless. Here it's often shredded and eaten raw as an accompaniment to many deep fried dishes.
