jazzman21
How do you know when you go to buy a Blue Note album if it's a original or not. What do you look for?

spinlps
No pics here, but decent descriptions of labels, markings, and some sonic comparisons...
ajf67
For what it's worth, I think this is pretty good. When printed, it's a little confusing because it's easy to lose track of which text goes with which photo, but he does provide clear, direct info on the various issue labels. Jazz Kat
This has confused me alot. I get a blue note lp, thinking it's somewhat old, then I see copyright 1997 on the back.

Man with the Golden Arm
what was the $$$$ of new bn lps in the 1950's-60's? I've got a Sinatra Capitol from the late fifties that had the shrink wrap on it from a place called the Jazz Mart (?) and a price tag of $1.47! Son-of-a-Weizen
what was the $$$$ of new bn lps in the 1950's-60's? Guys on the board who owned shops can probably give a definitive answer...but both of my Hubbard's still have $1.49 price tags on the shrink. Bill Fenohr
Back in the mid to late 60's new Blue Note releases,in our shop, sold for $2.95 mono and $3.95 stereo. I dont remember the mono wholesale price, but i think the stereo lp's were about $2.60 or thereabouts. Those $1.47 prices were probably clearence prices. I think back in those days we were buying Riverside and Prestige closeouts for about $1.25 and selling them for $1.99.
brownie
List prices for Blue Note albums in the late '50s were $4,98.
