Well.....I can tell you that I listened to it a few times prior to reading the liners. It didn't sound like one is attached. Then I read the notes and it mentions that he does indeed use it. Soul Stream Posted March 15, 2005 Report Share Posted March 15, 2005 I actually like the varitone. On some songs Sonny got a not-so-good violin-type sound which wasn't happening. But Lou Donaldson and others sound nice on it, as did Sonny on some, not all, things. It's a nice change of pace for me and blends with the organ well imho. mikeweil Posted October 2, 2011 Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 Stitt and Patterson was a great pairing - Patterson always inspired Stitt to good, no-nonsense playing. I have only the second of the two Delmark CDs, but I can recommend it. They are pretty much like the Stitt-Patterson albums on Prestige.
