Love, Forever Changes.

I listened to that LP almost daily for a couple of years when I was in High School.

Let's see...

During the late 80's, I constantly listened to Coltrane's Africa Brass (MCA single cd) and David Crosby's If I Could Only Remember My Name.

During the 90's I listened to a lot of Stereolab, especially Mars Audiac Quintet.

Now, I find myself going from album to album (and city to city) like a gypsy. I do listen to a lot of Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West. Their Bear Family Box set is probably the most played item for me during the last few years.

In my case I'm sure it's "Kind of Blue"--as unimaginative as that may be.

(I think this is a more interesting question than what is the "best" recording of all time.)

Great question, but not one that is easy to answer, well at least for me.

It would be easier if you had asked 'which track or song?', and could have said 'Hard Land' by Bruce Springsteen.

But back to your question?

If I stay with jazz then it would probably be:

Miles Davis in Stockholm 1960 Complete

Ask me in the morning and I may choose something else.

Che.

Probably the Charlie Parker Aebersold play-along. :)

I was obsessed w/that one when I was first learning to play bop heads and changes. I still use it frequently.

As far as regular music CDs, it would probably be a Miles; Miles Smiles, KOB, Jazz at the Plaza, ESP, Milestones, or maybe Cannonball's Somethin' else.

Jazz- John Coltrane: Live at Villiage Vanguard box (I listened to this a hell of a lot when I first got it, and the album a hell of a lot before that. The album made me switch from guitar to tenor sax as a primary instrument.

Rock- Beach Boys: Pet Sounds There is no better rock album.

Classical- Luigi Nono: Fragmente-Stille, An Diotima

EAI- Yoshihide, M, Nakamura: Good Morning, Good Night
