And I know downloads and streaming would seem to be the antithesis of Mosaic treatment, but I think it might be cool for them to try short-form video or still photos with high resolution sound. Almost like on online documentary channel for true blue jazz fans. I definitely want some 24-bit Mosaic jazz orchestra product, I know that much. You'd need something like 3-5 dates by the same artist, or some collection of sympathetic artists. Here's the Strata-East discography, anybody have a link to one for Freedom? I'm not seeing anything logical in the Strata-East stuff, unless one counts a couple unreleased Tolliver recordings that have had "teaser" mentions on-line over the years (i.e. "Right Now" and "In The Trenches"), though no such recordings have ever materialized. The artist roster appears good enough for me to assume that I would jump in on both for good reasonably priced reissues. I listened to an import edition of Clifford Jordan's tremendous In The World twice this week (after seeing the post about Cowell.... I know, he's on the other S/E Jordan), and what a shame that so few of us who have spent heavily on jazz reissues have had this great date in their hands. A shame. I really like Charles Brackeen, but never heard a good copy of Rhythm X. Don't need box sets, don't even need discs now that I have experienced some 24-bit at home (thanks Kevin B!). It just seems like if there's any life left in jazz reissues, good labels that got passed over in the CD era should get a look by the experts. One that would include albums like: - 'Hot vs. Cool' - 'Dixieland vs. Birdland' - 'Cats vs. Chicks' - 'Hi Fi Suite' - 'West Coast vs. East Coast' - 'Oh Captain' None of those dates has been properly reissued! A number of these have been out on Membran. While I agree that is hardly a proper reissue, it might be enough to scare Mosaic away.
