LF: Vido Musso, Cal Tjader, Nick Esposito

Recommended Posts

To complete my Cal Tjader 1950's collection, I need just three one more items:

1) Fantasy EP 4029:

Vido Musso Sextet: Don Dennis (trumpet) Vido Musso (tenor saxophone) Cal Tjader (vibraphone) Gil Barrios (piano) Jack Weeks (bass) Bob White (drums)

Los Angeles, California, January 6, 1952

Cuttin' The Nut

Come Back To Sorrento

Grunions A-Running

2) Fantasy 540

A 45 rpm single of Cal Tjader: As I Love You b/w I've Waited So Long

The first of these two tracks has never been released elsewhere; the second was on LP and CD.

3) some rare 4 Star singles of Nick Esposito:

Claude Gilroy (tenor saxophone) Billy „Buddy“ Munsinger (piano) Nick Esposito (guitar) Vernon Alley (bass) Joe Dodge (drums) Cal Tjader (bongos) Dottie Grey (vocals)

San Francisco, May 1949

Empty Ballroom Blues Part 1 - 4 Star 1294

Empty Ballroom Blues Part 2 - 4 Star 1294

Spring Fever - 4 Star 1350

Fine And Dandy - 4 Star 1350

I'd be grateful if somebody had any of these in any format.

PM or e-mail me. Thanks a lot.

Update - I now have the Vido Musso single and EP issues and one of the esposito 78s, so all I still need is:

Fantasy 540

A 45 rpm single of Cal Tjader: As I Love You b/w I've Waited So Long

The first of these two tracks has never been released elsewhere; the second was on LP and CD.

- one rare 4 Star single of Nick Esposito:

Claude Gilroy (tenor saxophone) Billy „Buddy“ Munsinger (piano) Nick Esposito (guitar) Vernon Alley (bass) Joe Dodge (drums) Cal Tjader (bongos) Dottie Grey (vocals)

San Francisco, May 1949

Spring Fever - 4 Star 1350

Fine And Dandy - 4 Star 1350

Still extremely thankful for any hint!

Sometimes all it takes is to wait patiently and keep looking: Somebody offered two Nick Esposito 78s on ebay, and I was the only bidder - got 'em for just five bucks plus shipping.

Turned out they are the complete session with Tjader on bongos - now I'm waiting for the road conditions to improve so I can reach the studio to get them transferred ...

-Nick Esposito Boptette -:Claude Gilroy (tenor saxophone) Buddy Motsinger (piano) NickEsposito (guitar) Vernon Alley (bass) Joe Dodge (drums) Cal Tjader (bongos)Dottie Grae (phonetics)

SanFrancisco, May 1949

3135 Dot'sBop 4 Star 1349

3161 Penny 4 Star 1349

3132 SpringFever 4 Star 1350

3133 FineAnd Dandy 4 Star 1350

Now the last pre-Concord Tjader item still missing in my collection is the 45 rpm single Fantasy 540:

Cal Tjader: As I Love You b/w I've Waited So Long

If anyone come across this one, please grab it for me!
