If you want to talk positive odds (what's in the pot is better than the odds against you), then it's proper to play the megaball at anything over $135 million.

So, $220 million not only covers that, but comes pretty close to covering that AFTER TAXES even.

Not if you take the possibility of split pots into account.

right, but at that point, it's almost never "correct" to play the lottery. Which I would agree with, for the most part.

You guys are crazy.  :crazy:

The odds of winning one of those are beyond astronomical. Buying 5 or 50 or even 500 tickets won't even be enough to increase your odds measurably.

You have a MUCH better chance of getting hit by lightening. Really.

BUT... once the prize gets big enough, the expected value of a Powerball ticket might actually become positive.
