winter's cityside

crystal bits of snowflakes all around my head and in the wind

I had no illusions

that I'd ever find a glimpse of summer's heatwaves in your eyes

you did what you did to me, now it's history I see

here's my comeback on the road again

things will happen while they can

I will wait here for my man tonight, it's easy when you're big in japan

when your big in japan, tonight

big in japan, be tight, big in japan where the eastern sea's so blue

big in japan, alright, pay, then I'll sleep by your side

things are easy when you're big in japan, when you're big in japan

neon on my naked skin

passing silhouettes of strange illuminated mannequins

shall I stay here at the zoo

or should I go and change my point of view for other ugly scenes

you did what you did to me, now it's history I see...

things will happen while they can

I will wait here for my man tonight, it's easy when you're big in japan

when your big in japan, tonight

big in japan, be tight, big in japan where the eastern sea's so blue

There are probably a dozen places you could play in Chicago, but I have 0 contacts at any. I think the very best fit would be the Green Mill, but they have their own B-3 group that plays once or twice a month. (This is the Deep Blue Organ Trio, who really seem to get around.)

Schubas Tavern maybe Shubas

I am attaching an edited list of jazz clubs from the Chicago Reader (dropped Empty Bottle, Hothouse, etc. which tend towards free jazz). Anyone else in the area can chime in as well. Good luck. Hope you make it out here.

 Re: The Magic Bag

The problem we have is that very few of these type of venues are willing to take a chance on an unknown act without a reputable agent or agency.. We need to focus as well on getting an agency to rep for us..

It's often futile for the musician(s) of a band to try and do the booking & networking biz themselves. Too often the people we're dealing with assume that we must not be very together if we're doing our own legwork. The reality is that many in this biz won't even return a call or an e-mail to a band or artist without representation.

I was wrong.  The Magic Bag is still operational but caters mainly to national acts.  I was thinking of the Music Menu, which is indeed defunct.

I believe the Derek Trucks Band is playing the Magic Bag this month

I would give the Firefly another shot, she has started up Tuesday nights again (they had been closed on Tuesday’s), calling it Trio Tuesday (in loving memory). I would think your group would fit in perfectly at the Firefly, Susan somewhat changes up her schedule every month.

Toronto

The Mod Club - nice place. Reminds me of St. Andews Hall in Greektown with the balcony rim above the main floor, but hipper. I've seen Wilco and Bob Mould there. Here's the website.

Joey D plays there all the time when he's in town. Lonnie Smith Trio too.
