Soul Stream
Hank Mobley's version of "The Good Life" is pretty nice to my ears. Also, Stanley Turrentine's "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most" always grabs me.

Cali
Hank Mobley's version of "The Good Life" is pretty nice to my ears. Also, Hank's version of "There's A Lull In My Life" from A SLICE OF THE TOP.
mmilovan
mikeweil, here is my vote: "East of The Sun" by Pres, Alladin sessions This is not top sax ballad playing, this is top playing by any means of all the time!
DrJ
I wouldn't presume to say they're the greatest ballad performances ever - far too many great ones to judge there - but I never tire of hearing Dexter Gordon's rendition of "You've Changed" from DOIN' ALRIGHT (BN) or Lucky Thompson playing "The Man I Love" on MODERN JAZZ GROUP (Universal France).
