What's the deal with emusic? Is this material available to Europeans? (The Verve stuff isn't.)

MG

Most albums are available to Europeans and Canadians, but some CDs and even some labels apparently aren't. Curiously, I signed up for my account while in America, and even though my billing address has switched to the UK, I still have access to all US material.

Still (mostly) on a world music trip.

Gotan Project: Lunatico

Lhasa: The Living Road

Mal Waldron - Breaking New Ground

With Reggie Workman and Ed Blackwell, and as good as you'd expect it to be. Four seventies vintage pop tunes are covered. I was expecting a more percussive and intense interpretation of Beat It, but this one's growing on me and the trio plays Earth Wind and Fire like they wrote it for the vocal group.

I've had Sam Rivers- Purple Violets for a while, but I'm really enjoying it recently. Might be Sam's most "inside" date.

Isn't it more accurate to say they now have a small fraction of the Storyville label? Good news, sure. "The Jaywalker!"

When they started carrying Candid, they started with just a few titles; each month, they add more. Now they have a large part of the catalog. Here's hoping they'll do the same with Storyville.

I've just noticed that they have a lot more Storyville titles! It's interesting that I don't recall seeing these listed in the "New This Week" lists. Anyway, check out:

Having revisited my vinyl of most of them lately, and found them. . . victims of seventies partying. . . I downloaded all the Flora Purim Milestones.

And I also was delighted to see that the "Artistry of Helen Merrill" was available, and downloaded that.

Then I decided to get two Coleman Hawkins that I did not have on cd: Sirius, and On Broadway.

That left me five tracks. . .so I went with Sonny Rollins "The Next Album."

Okay, they're getting there but they still don't have any I want to download! (I have most of these on cd, I've spent a lot of dollars on Storyville cds over the years, and lps too).
